Should I buy a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,551, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $15,227 average.
• It adds a mild refresh with more standard features and a more modern feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2021 if value matters most, since it offers a lower average price and strong owner satisfaction. If you want a newer-feeling cabin and can stretch your budget, the 2022 is the better upgrade path; if you’re price-sensitive, the 2021 is the smarter buy.
