CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 157 currently listed for sale near Naples, FL and an average price of $21,589.00, 30.6% of 2021 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Toyota Camry 4.65 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
100.0% of 2021 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Toyota Camry remains a solid all-rounder, and its appeal comes from doing the basics well. Reliability and practicality have long been the Camry’s strengths, and this generation also brings more extroverted styling and a more engaging driving experience than the model’s traditional reputation might suggest. For 2021, Toyota added subtle styling tweaks, new infotainment displays, an upgrade to the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ driver-aid package, changes to the dashboard trim, and it discontinued the Camry L trim level, making the Camry LE the new base trim.
What also sets the 2021 Toyota Camry apart is the breadth of choices it offers. It comes with three powertrains, six trim levels, and the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In testing, the AWD SE Nightshade Edition sat near the middle of the lineup. The Camry’s strengths include comfort and spaciousness, while the TRD trim adds extra performance and style. On the downside, the infotainment system is described as outdated, and the base engine is called underwhelming.

I absolutely love my 2021 Toyota Camry. From the moment I got it, I honestly fell in love with it. The car looks sporty and modern, but at the same time it’s very comfortable and smooth to drive. It feels reliable and safe, which gives me a lot of confidence, especially as someone still getting used to driving more often. The fuel efficiency is great, and the interior is clean and well-designed. Everything feels solid and easy to use. It’s definitely a great value for the price. If I had to mention something, I wish it had push-button start, but overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for something reliable, stylish, and comfortable.

CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2021 Toyota Camry prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2021 Toyota Camry cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,792 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,002.40 |
| Year-Round High | $22,372.21 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,373 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.59% |
Prices have softened 2.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,163 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and drivetrains.
If you find a listing below $21,002.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Toyota Camry earns a 4.65/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.
Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, great handling, stylish design, fuel efficiency, and reliable performance. The expert review also highlights comfort and spaciousness, along with a more engaging driving experience than you might expect from a Camry.
The trade-offs are familiar ones: the infotainment system feels outdated, and the base engine is described as underwhelming. Even so, this year’s Camry is positioned as a practical midsize sedan with broader appeal than the nameplate’s old reputation suggests.
With 28.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly points to reliable performance, and the expert review reinforces that Toyota has an excellent reputation for reliability. The Camry’s powertrain and everyday driving manners are described in dependable, confidence-inspiring terms, which matters if you want a used sedan you can count on.
Toyota also includes a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which are average for the class. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Camry’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by heavy use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Camry?
At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was cosmetic or structural. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one priced near the low end of the market. Focus on overall condition, signs of uneven wear, and whether the car’s equipment and safety systems work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: LE and XLE models get a cleaner grille, while SE, XSE, and TRD versions add more visual clutter with fake vents. The base LE also uses 17-inch alloy wheels, while larger wheels are reserved for other models.
- Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder is rated at 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet with FWD, or 202 hp and 182 lb-ft with AWD. The V6 makes 301 hp and 267 lb-ft, and the hybrid totals 208 hp. An eight-speed automatic is standard with the gas engines.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, and SiriusXM. Higher trims add a 9-inch screen, WiFi for five devices, navigation, and a nine-speaker JBL system.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder LE and SE return 32 mpg combined with FWD and 29 mpg combined with AWD. The V6 is rated at 26 mpg combined in XLE trim, while the hybrid reaches up to 52 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2021 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade Edition, XSE, and TRD.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: LE is the value starting point, but it misses the larger touchscreen and some of the richer tech and convenience features found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: SE is the best all-around pick if you want a more engaging look and feel without jumping to the pricier upper trims.
- Premium/top trim: XSE and XLE bring the 9-inch touchscreen, navigation, WiFi capability, and the JBL audio system, making them the best fit if you want more tech and a more upscale cabin.
- Off-road trim: TRD is the one to skip if you want the most comfortable daily-driver setup, since its performance focus is the point.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,163 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.59% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,002.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $21,792 sits slightly below last year's $22,373.
That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. The Camry’s broad appeal, strong owner satisfaction, and reputation for reliability should help support demand over time. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to hold their value better than neglected ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry safe?
The 2021 Toyota Camry earned a “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it also earned the highest five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with five-star ratings in front, side, and rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.
Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.59% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 update brings revised styling, upgraded infotainment displays, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,440, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,792 average.
- It adds all-wheel drive and the TRD trim, broadening the lineup.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $23,567, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,792 average.
- It keeps the Camry’s roomy, reliable, efficient formula with broad appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and everyday usability, the 2021 is the smart default. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2020 is the better value play, while the 2022 makes sense if you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative.
