Used 2021 Toyota Camry for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2021 Toyota Camry cost?

Prices have softened 1.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,242 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2021 Toyota Camry a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Toyota Camry earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, great handling, and stylish design, and they also call out fuel efficiency and reliable performance. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Camry’s role as a roomy, comfortable midsize sedan that still gives you a more engaging drive than many shoppers expect. The main trade-offs are outdated technology and an underwhelming base engine, so it fits you best if you value everyday comfort and balance more than the latest cabin tech. Good and great deals account for 33.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Toyota Camry reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe the Camry as reliable and praise its dependable performance, with comments that point to a trouble-free ownership experience and confidence over the long term. The expert review also emphasizes Toyota’s reputation for reliability and says the car remains a good choice for buyers who want a well-rounded sedan. Toyota’s warranty coverage is average for the class, so your long-term ownership risk is mostly about finding a well-kept example rather than worrying about a weak model reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Camry?

At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use: interior wear, infotainment behavior, tire condition, and evidence of uneven maintenance. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the savings are not hiding prior damage or deferred upkeep.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LE and XLE models get a cleaner grille, while SE, XSE, and TRD trims add more aggressive styling details and visual clutter. The base LE comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, and the TRD stands apart with unique styling elements like a larger rear spoiler.
• Powertrain: You can find a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 3.5-liter V6, or a hybrid setup. The four-cylinder is the most common choice, the V6 brings stronger output, and the hybrid is the efficiency play.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, and SiriusXM. Higher trims add a 9-inch screen, WiFi, navigation, and a nine-speaker JBL system, while a 10-inch head-up display is available on XLE and XSE.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder LE and SE are rated at 28 mpg city and 39 mpg highway with FWD, or 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway with AWD. The V6 is rated at 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway in XLE trim, while the hybrid reaches up to 52 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, SE, SE Nightshade Edition, XSE, and TRD.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Camry’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get the standard safety suite, the 7-inch touchscreen, and the practical everyday comfort that makes the Camry easy to live with.
• XLE: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and the available safety and tech upgrades that move the Camry closer to a premium experience. It suits you best if comfort and convenience matter more than sporty styling.
• SE: This is the right pick if you want a more expressive look without jumping all the way to the performance-focused trims. It keeps the Camry’s balanced character while adding a sportier appearance.
• SE Nightshade Edition: This is for you if you want the SE’s equipment with blacked-out exterior trim and wheels. It is mainly a style choice, so it makes sense if appearance matters more than added hardware.
• XSE: This trim blends a sportier look with more available equipment, including the larger touchscreen and available head-up display. It is a strong choice if you want a more polished, better-equipped Camry without going full TRD.
• TRD: Pick this if you want the most performance-oriented Camry, since it adds the V6 and chassis upgrades along with unique styling. It is the trim for you if driving feel matters more than maximum comfort or efficiency.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the XLE and XSE, and optional on the LE and SE.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Camry?

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,242 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,980, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $21,592 sits slightly below last year's $21,922.

That modest decline suggests the Camry is holding value reasonably well, but not appreciating in the current market. For a future seller, that means your return will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and trim rather than broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should still draw steady interest because the Camry’s reputation for reliability and practicality remains a major selling point.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2021 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA in front, side, and rollover crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic-sign recognition. Toyota also adds Rear Seat Reminder on all trim levels, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on XLE and XSE, optional on LE and SE. The main caveat is that some of the more helpful driver-assistance features are not standard on every trim, so you should check equipment carefully if you are shopping lower on the lineup.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds updated infotainment displays and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,931, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,592 average.
• It adds all-wheel drive and the TRD performance trim.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,834, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,592 average.
• It keeps the roomy, reliable, efficient formula buyers want.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and everyday usefulness, the 2021 is the smart default. If your priority is spending less, the 2020 is the better value play; if you want to pay more for a newer-year alternative, the 2022 remains a sensible step up.
