For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific truck you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worked harder than its condition suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 RAM 3500?

At 74.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with accident records or other red flags. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the truck’s condition, especially signs of heavy use, since this model is often bought for demanding work. Focus on how well the cabin, bed, and mechanical components have held up, because condition matters a lot on a truck that may have spent its life towing or hauling.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 RAM 3500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2021 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $46,146 sits slightly below last year's $50,803.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Trucks with strong demand and broad appeal tend to hold attention longer, especially when they’re well equipped and in good condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, a refined cabin, and a market that has eased a bit, the 2021 is the primary year to target. If your priority is simply finding the lowest possible entry price, you can also compare nearby years and focus on the best-condition truck rather than the newest badge.
