How much does the 2021 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 7.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 14,920 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2021 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 RAM 1500 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, and our experts rate it 7.8/10. The expert test drive score is 7.8/10, and the model scores 9/10 across Performance and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the refined driving experience, smooth ride, high-quality interior, and impressive infotainment system. Those strengths line up well with the truck’s use-case appeal as a pickup that can handle everyday driving while still feeling upscale and capable.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the truck’s strong market presence and 35.5% good-or-great deal share make it a compelling option if you want a well-rounded full-size pickup with a premium feel.

Is the 2021 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a truck that feels refined, smooth, and dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly highlighting the high-quality interior and strong technology. The expert drive notes also reinforce that sense of confidence, describing the truck as comfortable and composed in a wide range of driving situations.

The available maintenance and ownership details suggest the truck is built for serious use, but used buyers should still pay close attention to condition, service history, and any signs of heavy-duty wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full records review. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on wear items, evidence of hard use, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the trim you expect. Condition matters especially here because the model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes a wide range of configurations, from work-focused setups to the TRX, which adds a more aggressive off-road and performance character. Base versions are more straightforward, while higher trims bring more luxury and capability.
• Powertrain: The TRX uses a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 with 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is also rated at 10 mpg city, 14 highway, and 12 combined.
• Safety package: The Advanced Safety Group adds a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and pedestrian detection with emergency braking. Some of these features are not standard.
• Infotainment: The truck uses a 12-inch Uconnect 4C touchscreen with navigation, wireless charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and available over-the-air-style convenience through connected features. The display can be configured in single-panel or split-screen form.
• Fuel efficiency: The TRX is rated at 10 mpg city, 14 highway, and 12 combined.

Which 2021 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2021 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Ram Tradesman, Ram TRX, Ram TRX Launch Edition, Ram Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition, Ram Rebel, Ram Laramie, Ram Big Horn, Ram Lone Star, Ram Laramie Longhorn, and Ram Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Ram Tradesman: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and do not need the extra luxury or performance equipment found higher up.
• Ram Big Horn: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the range and should give you a stronger balance of equipment and price than the base truck.
• Ram Lone Star: Choose this if you want a trim positioned alongside the Big Horn with a similar value-oriented mission and broader everyday appeal.
• Ram Laramie: This is the move if you want a more upscale cabin and a stronger technology experience without jumping all the way to the top-end luxury trims.
• Ram Rebel: Pick this if you want a more rugged personality and off-road-oriented character than the mainstream trims.
• Ram Laramie Longhorn: This is for shoppers who want a more premium, Western-themed luxury feel.
• Ram Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition: This is the special-edition luxury choice if you want the most distinctive appearance and upscale presentation.
• Ram Limited: This is the top luxury-oriented pick for buyers who want the most polished version of the standard lineup.
• Ram TRX: This is the performance and off-road standout, with the supercharged V8 and the most extreme capability in the lineup.
• Ram TRX Launch Edition: Choose this only if you want the TRX formula with the limited-edition exclusivity.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so you should check carefully which trim or package includes the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right truck.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 14,920 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,732, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $29,732 sits slightly below last year's $32,242.

That price movement suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you shop carefully now, you may have a better chance of limiting your own depreciation exposure later. Strong demand for well-kept examples should help support values, especially for trucks with desirable equipment and clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2021 RAM 1500 TRX is built to handle demanding terrain and comes with more than 100 safety and security features, but crash-test ratings are not yet available.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Advanced Safety Group adds a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and pedestrian detection with emergency braking. The Advanced Tech Group adds a digital rear-view mirror and a brake-activated center high-mount stop lamp. Some of the most useful driver-assistance features are not standard, so you should confirm package content on any used example.

Should I buy a 2021 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds the TRX, giving the lineup a standout performance and off-road identity.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,193, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $29,732 average.
• It brings back the EcoDiesel engine across the lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,352, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $29,732 average.
• It leans harder into comfort, utility, and a more polished cabin experience.

The bottom line: If you want the most interesting mix of value, performance, and market availability, the 2021 is the strongest all-around pick. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2020 is worth a look; if you want a more refined-feeling truck and can spend more, the 2022 is the upgrade path.
