Used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE for Sale nearSaint Louis, MO

How much does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE cost?

Prices have softened 10.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,732 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its technology, comfort, customizable features, and high-quality sound system. The GLE’s broad powertrain lineup also helps it fit different priorities, from everyday luxury to stronger performance.

The trade-offs are clear: styling is uninspired, and the base engine is underwhelming. Some owners also feel it is overpriced, and the ride can feel stiffer than expected in some versions.

For you, that means the GLE makes the most sense if you want a comfort-first luxury SUV with a lot of tech and configuration flexibility. It is less compelling if you care most about standout styling or maximum value.

33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as comfortable, customizable, and generally satisfying over time, with technology and sound quality standing out as recurring strengths. The ownership experience also benefits from the model’s polished, well-integrated systems and broad appeal across different powertrain choices.

The expert review also emphasizes that the GLE’s base coil-sprung setup makes the most sense for reliability because it avoids expensive suspension complexity. That said, the more advanced suspension and performance hardware on higher trims can add long-term ownership complexity.

If you want lower risk as a used buyer, focus on maintenance history and avoid assuming every higher-spec version will be as simple to own as the base model.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-trim or more complex versions where suspension and performance hardware can add ownership risk. Pay close attention to condition, because luxury features and advanced systems can be expensive to sort out after the sale.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GLE 350 uses an ordinary coil-sprung setup, while higher versions add more complex suspension hardware and more upscale equipment. The interior is a major strength, but you should expect to pay more to feel truly rich.
• Powertrain: The GLE 350 uses a 255 hp turbocharged four-cylinder, while higher trims add a turbocharged inline-six, a twin-turbo V8, or AMG-tuned performance variants. Efficiency varies by version, and the hybrid setup is more about smoothness and added response than major fuel savings.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, a driver attention monitor, and forward emergency braking. Adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic braking, semi-automated control, and 360-degree cameras are optional, so check carefully for feature gaps.
• Infotainment: The main display is a 12-inch touchscreen with touchpad and thumbpad control, plus Interior Assistant gesture control. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also includes a natural voice assistant and over-the-air-style convenience through its connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLE 450 returns 21/26/23 mpg, the GLE 350 4Matic returns 19/26/22 mpg, and the GLE 580 is rated at 16 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE is offered in 5 trim levels: GLE 350, GLE 450, GLE 580, AMG GLE 53, AMG GLE 63 S.

Here's the short version:

• GLE 350: This is the entry point, and it is the most budget-friendly way into the lineup. It gives you the core GLE experience, but the base engine is the weakest part of the range, so it suits you best if comfort and price matter more than speed.
• GLE 450: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a stronger inline-six and a more balanced overall package. If you want the sweet spot between everyday refinement and stronger performance, this is the trim to target.
• GLE 580: Choose this if you want V8 power and a more muscular driving experience. It is the right fit if you care more about effortless performance than value.
• AMG GLE 53: This trim is for you if you want sharper performance and AMG-specific tuning without going all the way to the top. It adds a more aggressive character and more capability than the standard trims.
• AMG GLE 63 S: This is the top performance choice, with the most power and the most extreme hardware in the lineup. It makes sense if you want the most serious version of the GLE and are willing to pay for it.

Blind-spot monitoring and a driver attention monitor are standard, while many other advanced safety features remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,732 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,823, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE's resale value?

The current average of $37,823 sits slightly below last year's $42,304.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure future resale returns if prices keep easing. If you plan to sell later, buying closer to the low end of the range gives you more cushion against depreciation.

The GLE’s strong reputation for comfort, technology, and owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Still, resale will depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE earns the best Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, a driver attention monitor, and forward emergency braking. Optional features include adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic braking, semi-automated control, and 360-degree cameras, so you should check the exact equipment list on any used example.

One caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so trim and option content matter a lot here.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines broad powertrain choice with standout technology and comfort.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,177, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $37,823 average.
• It offers a roomier interior and a strong new infotainment system.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,139, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,823 average.
• It leans harder into style while adding a more powerful engine and strong tech.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the best all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of comfort, technology, and market availability. If price matters most, the 2020 is the smarter value play; if you want a more expressive design, the 2022 is worth a look.
