How much does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 8.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,299 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — the 4.76/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.00/10. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, luxurious interior, powerful performance, advanced features, and elegant styling. That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a midsize luxury car aimed at buyers who want refinement and prestige, not just basic transportation.

With 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market opportunity to make this a worthwhile shopping target if you value comfort and high-end features.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.76/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its smooth ride, luxurious interior, and powerful performance. The same feedback also highlights advanced features and elegant styling, which suggests the car’s appeal goes beyond first impressions and holds up over time.

The expert test-drive notes reinforce that sense of composure, describing the car as calm, noise-proof, and easy to live with on long drives. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is the possibility of premium repair and maintenance costs as the car ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

At 61.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been optioned heavily or shows signs of wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and evidence of prior bodywork so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that may become expensive to own.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is described as especially upscale, with inlaid wood, bright LED mood lighting in 64 colors, and high-end interior presentation. The Luxury Line is called out as the better fit for buyers who want a more understated, richer look.
• Powertrain: The E300 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, while the E400 uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want easier passing power and a more relaxed feel.
• Safety package: The car includes Car-to-X Communication, Pre-Safe Sound, automatic braking that can detect crossing traffic and people, and adaptive cruise control that can recognize changing speed limits. Many of these features are optional, and several are tied to the expensive Premium 3 package.
• Infotainment: The E-Class offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a built-in web browser, a head-up display, and a configurable instrument panel. The tech suite is a major strength, but some of the most advanced features require the Premium 3 package.
• Fuel efficiency: The E300 is EPA-rated at 22 mpg city and 30 highway, while the E300 4Matic is rated at 21/29. The E400 coupe is rated at 20/26, and the E400 4Matic wagon is rated at 19/25.

Which 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: E300 sedan, E300 4Matic sedan, E400 coupe, E400 4Matic wagon.

Here's the short version:

• E300 sedan: This is the most affordable entry point and one of the most popular trims. It gives you the core E-Class luxury experience at the lowest starting price, making it the best-value choice if you want the badge and comfort without stretching too far.
• E300 4Matic sedan: Choose this if you want the same basic package as the E300 sedan but prefer all-wheel drive. It makes sense if you live where traction matters more than maximizing purchase price.
• E400 coupe: This is the best pick if you want the stronger 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and the more distinctive coupe body style. The expert review calls this engine the best choice, so this trim is the one to target if performance and refinement matter most.
• E400 4Matic wagon: Pick this if you want the V6 powertrain and the wagon body style. It’s the most practical version in the lineup, and it suits buyers who want luxury with extra utility.

Many of the safety and semi-autonomous features are locked into the expensive Premium 3 package, so check option content carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting a fire-sale environment.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,299 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,086, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $23,092 sits slightly below last year's $25,353.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the sting of depreciation later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.76/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, along with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and for rollover vulnerability, and it is rated Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety suite includes Car-to-X Communication, Pre-Safe Sound, automatic braking that can detect crossing traffic and people, adaptive cruise control that can recognize changing speed limits, and systems that can help with steering and braking in emergency situations. Some safety features are optional, and rear side airbags were optional on the tested car.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.76/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says you get a lot for your money, with the car delivering the kind of luxury and polish that make it stand out in the class.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of luxury, technology, and buyer satisfaction, the 2018 E-Class is the year to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible entry price, you may want to compare it with nearby model years and shop for the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than focusing only on the badge year.
