How much does the 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 189 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.

It stands out as a stylish, high-quality midsize sedan that puts driving enjoyment ahead of the usual family-car formula. The cabin materials and overall presentation give it a more premium feel than many rivals, and its steering and road manners make it especially appealing if you value a car that feels engaging on everyday drives.

The trade-offs are clear: all-wheel drive is not available, and the technology is dated compared with newer competitors. Even so, the car’s polished character and strong driving dynamics make it a compelling choice if you want a sedan that feels distinctive rather than generic.

38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 is presented as a well-built, thoughtfully equipped sedan that emphasizes quality and durability in everyday use. Its expert evaluation also describes the car as safe and enjoyable to live with, which supports the case for dependable ownership over time.

The performance notes point to a smooth, predictable powertrain and a driving experience that feels composed in daily commuting and highway use. Mazda also equips the car generously rather than relying on gimmicks, which can help reduce the risk of buyer’s remorse for used-car shoppers.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s older technology may feel dated sooner than the rest of the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mazda MAZDA6?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim level you’re paying for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Sport and Touring use a 186-horsepower Skyactiv 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while the higher trims get a turbocharged 250-hp version of that powerplant. The Sport and Touring are the most basic versions, while the Grand Touring Reserve, Carbon Edition, and Signature add more premium equipment and features.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 250 hp and 320 pound-feet of torque on 93-octane fuel, or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on 87-octane fuel. The six-speed automatic sends power to the front wheels, and all-wheel drive is not available.
• Safety package: Every 2021 Mazda6 includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Grand Touring Reserve adds adaptive headlights, a wiper de-icer system, and an Active Driving Display, while Signature adds driver-attention alert, traffic-sign recognition, rear automatic braking, a surround-view camera system, and front and rear parking sensors.
• Infotainment: The car uses an 8-inch screen and includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, internet radio, text-messaging support, and E911 automatic emergency notification. Grand Touring and higher trims add wireless Apple CarPlay, while Android Auto remains wired.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged engine returns 26 mpg in combined driving, and testing produced 26.1 mpg.

Which 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, Carbon Edition, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Mazda6 experience with the 186-horsepower engine and the full standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and care more about the driving feel than extra luxury features.
• Touring: This trim keeps the same basic powertrain as Sport but adds more comfort and convenience equipment. It’s the better pick if you want a more complete daily driver without jumping into the pricier turbocharged trims.
• Grand Touring: This is the first trim to get the turbocharged engine, and it also unlocks wireless Apple CarPlay plus the Bose premium audio system. It looks like the best-value choice if you want the strongest mix of performance, tech, and everyday usability.
• Grand Touring Reserve: This trim adds adaptive headlights, a wiper de-icer system, and an Active Driving Display. It suits you if you want more premium features and a more upscale feel without going all the way to the top trim.
• Carbon Edition: Based on Grand Touring Reserve, this trim adds Polymetal Gray paint, red leather with contrast stitching, and black metallic wheels. It’s the style-focused choice if you want a more distinctive look and a well-equipped cabin.
• Signature: This is the luxury-leaning version, with premium Nappa leather, genuine Sen wood trim, LED interior lighting, and the most advanced safety-tech package. Choose it if you want the most upscale Mazda6 experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package starts with strong standard equipment on every trim, while the higher trims add more advanced driver-assistance and visibility features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mazda MAZDA6?

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 189 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,712, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA6's resale value?

The current average of $20,143 sits slightly below last year's $20,272.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which is helpful if you’re planning to resell later. You’re not looking at a steep drop in value, so a well-kept example should remain reasonably competitive in the used market.

The Mazda6’s strong styling and premium feel can help it stand out when it’s time to sell. A car that feels distinctive and well cared for is easier to market than one that blends into the crowd.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 safe?

The 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 earns the IIHS's Top Safety Pick+ rating and five-star ratings from NHTSA in nearly every assessment.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s i-Activesense suite is standard on every trim and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Higher trims add more advanced features, including adaptive headlights, an Active Driving Display, driver-attention alert, traffic-sign recognition, rear automatic braking, a surround-view camera system, and front and rear parking sensors.

One caveat is that the Mazda6 does not include a lane-centering function, which some rivals offer. Even so, the standard safety package is broad and the crash-test results are strong.

Should I buy a 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 Mazda6 remains one of the more stylish and high-quality choices in the class, with a fun-to-drive character and premium interior materials.

The bottom line: The 2021 Mazda MAZDA6 is the right pick if you want a midsize sedan that feels more premium and engaging than most rivals. If you’re price-sensitive, you can still shop confidently because the market is fairly stable and there are enough listings to compare. If you want the best blend of value and equipment, focus on the better-equipped midlevel trims rather than stretching only for the top model.
