Used 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 for Sale nearSaint Paul, MN

How much does the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 575 listings available, which suggests you should have some room to compare condition, mileage, and equipment.

Is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Yes — your 5/5 user rating and an expert rating of 8.33/10 point to a car that lands well with both owners and reviewers. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the sporty design, high-quality interior, and fun driving experience, and they also call out the car’s fuel efficiency. In practical terms, that lines up with a compact car that feels more upscale than many rivals while still being enjoyable to drive every day.

The main trade-offs are the lack of a manual transmission, poor visibility, and outdated technology. That means you’re getting a polished, engaging compact car, but not one that prioritizes simplicity or the latest interface tech.

The overview frames it as a good fit if you want driving enjoyment and a more mature, premium personality without giving up everyday usability. Good and great deals account for 34.1% of listings, which shows there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary also points to a car that feels sporty, high-quality, and enjoyable to live with, while the repeated praise for fuel efficiency suggests a well-rounded ownership experience.

On the expert side, the powertrain and chassis are described as smooth, predictable, and consistent, and the car is presented as one you can learn and trust over time. That kind of behavior usually matters more than flash when you’re planning to keep a used car for years.

Mazda also includes a three-year trial subscription to Mazda Connected Services, which adds some ownership convenience early on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright drama and more about whether the car’s tech and visibility quirks will still suit you after the novelty wears off.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mazda MAZDA3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace documentation. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, cabin wear, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering. Since this model’s appeal leans heavily on design and refinement, condition matters a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Standard versions use leatherette, while the higher trim brings Nappa leather and a more upscale cabin presentation. The Premium Plus version also adds a high-definition surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, low-speed reverse automatic braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque on 93-octane fuel, or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on 87-octane fuel. It pairs with a six-speed automatic and i-Activ AWD, while non-turbo versions can be had with AWD or FWD.
• Safety package: The i-ActiveSense suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and automatic high-beam LED headlights with Adaptive Front Lighting System. Premium Plus adds the surround-view camera, parking sensors, reverse automatic braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: Mazda Connect uses an 8.8-inch display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a three-year trial to Mazda Connected Services. It is not touch-sensitive.
• Fuel efficiency: During testing, the turbo model averaged 20.4 mpg, and the review notes an EPA estimate of 27 mpg in combined driving and a real-world expectation of about 24 mpg.

Which 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 2 trim levels: standard and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• standard: This is the trim to target if you want the core Mazda3 Turbo experience without paying for the extra convenience and parking tech. You still get the turbocharged powertrain, AWD, and the upscale design and materials that define the car’s appeal.
• Premium Plus: This is the better choice if you want the most complete version of the car. It adds the premium cabin treatment plus the exclusive safety and parking features, making it the best-value pick for buyers who want the fullest equipment set.

The safety package is a strong part of the story here, and Premium Plus is the trim that adds the model-exclusive features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mazda MAZDA3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings rather than rushing.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 575 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,449, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $19,274 sits slightly below last year's $19,295.

That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is usually helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate what your car will be worth after a few years of ownership.

Because the drop is minimal, you should expect resale value to depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market swings. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment, including rollover resistance, and it had previously carried an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s i-ActiveSense suite is designed to support the driver rather than replace them, and it includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, automatic high-beam LED headlights, and an Adaptive Front Lighting System. Premium Plus adds a high-definition surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, low-speed reverse automatic braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.

One caveat is that Traffic Jam Assist is not a Level 2 system, so you remain responsible for steering. Even so, the overall safety package is broad and well executed.

Should I buy a 2021 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The turbocharged setup delivers strong power with a refined, predictable driving character.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $17,667, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $19,274 average.
• It emphasizes premium style and standard safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $20,564, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,274 average.
• It adds the Carbon Edition and extra convenience touches.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price stability, owner satisfaction, and strong safety, the 2021 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 can save you money, while the 2022 makes sense if you want the newer-year extras and are willing to pay more.
