2021 Maserati Ghibli

It’s hard to call any Maserati “entry-level,” but the four-door Maserati Ghibli is the brand’s most affordable offering. When it was introduced in 2013, it represented an expansion downmarket for the storied Italian automaker. But that’s not to say this is in any way an economy car. The Ghibli is a sinister sports sedan that stands out from the Audis and BMWs of the world. For the 2021 model year, the Ghibli receives some subtle styling tweaks and a new range-topping Trofeo trim.
The base engine in the Ghibli is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 derived from a Ferrari V8. It makes 345 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque in standard form, and 424 hp and 428 lb-ft in the Ghibli S. Moving up to the new Trofeo (“Trophy” in Italian) swaps out the V6 for a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 (also Ferrari-derived). It churns out 572 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The V6-powered Ghibli S is also available with all-wheel drive (AWD), noted by the Q4 designation.
The most efficient version of the Ghibli is the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) base model. It returns fuel economy of 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, 20 mpg combined. On the other end of the spectrum, the V8-powered Trofeo returns 13 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, 16 mpg combined. As one might imagine, the Ghibli in all its variants requires premium fuel.
The standard Ghibli comes equipped with 19-inch aluminum wheels, a power sunroof, heated front seats, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ghibli is also available in GranLusso and GranSport trims. The GranLusso features a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo, LED adaptive headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, and leather-and-silk upholstery from Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna
The GranSport takes a more performance-inspired approach. It features a unique front fascia, 20-inch Urano aluminum wheels, red brake calipers, and Maserati’s SkyHook suspension system with electronic damping. Inside, the GranSport adds 12-way power-adjustable sport bucket front seats and a heated sport-style steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters.
In addition to its V8 power, upgrades to the range-topping Trofeo trim include a limited-slip differential, launch control, and a Corsa drive mode (in addition to Sport and Normal modes). The Trofeo has a claimed zero to 60 mph time of 4.3 seconds.
Base MSRP for the 2021 Maserati Ghibli is $74,390. The Ghibli S starts at $79,390 and the all-wheel-drive Q4 variant starts at $81,890. The GranLusso and GranSport trims also have the same $81,890 starting price. The range-topping Trofeo clocks in with a starting price of $109,890.
