2019 Maserati Ghibli

Maserati introduced its Ghibli luxury car in 2015 in order to compete with upscale versions of the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. For 2019, the 5-seat midsize sedan remains much the same as before, with a few new options.
Beneath the Ghibli’s long hood lies one of a potent set of twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engines. The Base specification offers 345 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, along with standard rear-wheel drive (RWD). That’s enough to get you to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 166 mph. The Ghibli S trim bumps that up to 424 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, reaching 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 178 mph. Finally, the Ghibli S Q4 tacks on all-wheel drive (AWD) and decreases the 0-to-60 time to just 4.7 seconds. Whichever Ghibli you choose, you’ll get an 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The Base trim returns 17 mpg city, 24 highway, and 19 combined on premium fuel, while the S and S Q4 trims see a 1 mpg dip for city driving.
Base equipment on the Ghibli includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, bi-xenon headlights, a sunroof, heated front seats, a redesigned 8.4-inch infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, and keyless access and start. From there, Maserati splits the Ghibli into optional GranLusso and GranSport packages. The GranLusso package adds additional chrome to the front fascia, premium leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, a heated and wood-accented steering wheel, adaptive full-LED headlights with automatic high beams, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and black-painted brake calipers. The GranSport package trades the Ghibli’s dignified themes for something a lot more sinister, including unique front and rear fascia with larger openings, 20-inch wheels, red-painted brake calipers, a performance suspension with electronic damping, 12-way power front sport seats, a sport steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters, adaptive full-LED headlights with automatic high beams, and the Harman Kardon audio system.
One interesting option for 2019 is the Edizione Nobile package, exclusively available with the GranLusso package. Each car gets Blu Nobile tri-coat exterior paint, unique 20-inch wheels, and silver brake calipers. Inside, there’s a special badge in the center console, the seats from the GranSport, a rich two-tone color scheme, Rovere wood veneers, and an Alcantara headliner. You also get a Bowers & Wilkins ultra-premium sound system. However, Maserati plans to produce only 50 units.
There’s plenty in the way of safety on the Ghibli. The basic package comes with a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring. However, the driver-assist package gives you adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, traffic-sign recognition, highway assist, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) evaluated the Ghibli’s crashworthiness in 2019 and gave it Good scores across the board.
The Maserati Ghibli continues to be a car that turns heads with its athletic, flowing body and exciting powertrain choices.
