Used 2021 MINI Cooper for Sale nearToms River, NJ

How much does the 2021 MINI Cooper cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 380 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — the 2021 MINI Cooper earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 5.00/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 7/10. Owners consistently praise its fun driving experience, sporty performance, and modern technology, and many also like the practicality of the four-door design and the comfortable, well-equipped interior. At the same time, the expert review notes that it is not the most practical or best equipped choice in its class, with poor value for money and a cramped back seat standing out as trade-offs. If you want a distinctive small car that prioritizes personality and driving enjoyment over everyday utility, the MINI Cooper fits that use case well. 41.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary points to a car that feels fun, sporty, and modern, while also being comfortable and well equipped enough to satisfy many buyers over time. The expert review also emphasizes that the MINI feels spritely and energetic, with a drivetrain character that makes it engaging to live with. MINI includes a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty and a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty, which adds some ownership reassurance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s tight packaging and added-cost features can make it less forgiving if you need broad everyday practicality.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 MINI Cooper?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether its interior and technology still feel fresh. Pay extra attention to signs of wear in the cabin and to any issues that could affect daily usability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin design is distinctive, with rounded shapes, a circular infotainment layout, and a generally high-quality feel, but the back seats are very tight and best suited to limited use.
• Powertrain: You get four powertrain options, starting with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 134 horsepower, then moving up to turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder setups with 189 hp, 228 hp, and 301 hp. Front-wheel drive is standard, and a six-speed manual is standard on the Cooper and Cooper S.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and rear parking sensors. Front parking sensors, parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are optional.
• Infotainment: The base screen is 6.5 inches, while an 8.8-inch screen is available with SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and more. MINI does not include Android Auto at any trim level.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient configuration listed is the Convertible at 28/37/31 mpg city/highway/combined, while the Cooper S Convertible returns 23/32/26 mpg.

Which 2021 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2021 MINI Cooper is offered in 4 trim levels: Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works, John Cooper Works GP.

Here's the short version:

• Cooper: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core MINI personality with the 134-horsepower turbo three-cylinder, a standard manual transmission, and the same distinctive styling that defines the lineup. It makes the most sense if you want the MINI experience at the lowest step in the range.
• Cooper S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the stronger 189-horsepower turbo four-cylinder while keeping the MINI’s playful character and manual-transmission availability. If you want the sweet spot between everyday livability and stronger performance, start here.
• John Cooper Works: This trim steps up to a 228-horsepower turbo four-cylinder and is aimed at buyers who want a more serious performance edge. It suits you best if driving enjoyment matters more than comfort or value.
• John Cooper Works GP: This is the most extreme version, with a 301-horsepower turbo four-cylinder and the quickest acceleration in the lineup. It’s the right pick if you want the most aggressive MINI and are willing to trade practicality for speed.

The safety package is limited on lower trims, with several driver-assistance features reserved as options rather than standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 MINI Cooper?

It’s a favorable time to shop if you want a used MINI Cooper, because the market shows a healthy share of discounted listings and a stable price trend.

• Deal availability: 41.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 380 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,605, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $21,048 sits slightly below last year's $21,208.

That small decline suggests the MINI Cooper has been relatively stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value. The model’s distinctive character and strong owner satisfaction can help keep demand from dropping too sharply. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 MINI Cooper safe?

The 2021 MINI Cooper missed out on a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and scored top "Good" ratings in crash tests, with either "Acceptable" or "Poor" ratings for headlights.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance features are forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and rear parking sensors. Front parking sensors, a parking assistance system, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are optional. The mixed headlight results and the lack of a Top Safety Pick designation are the main caveats to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2021 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?
