2021 Lincoln Nautilus

The Lincoln Nautilus nameplate first appeared for the 2019 model year, as a major refresh of the Lincoln MKX. The Nautilus is a midsize luxury crossover, doing battle mostly against the Cadillac XT5 and Lexus RX. For 2021, there are some major updates.
While the exterior looks much the same, it’s inside the Nautilus that you’ll find plenty of change. The new dashboard sports a linear, horizontal look that more closely matches Lincoln’s other SUVs, along with refined materials. Sitting front and center on that dashboard is a new standard 13.2-inch infotainment display, powered by Lincoln’s latest Sync 4 infotainment system, with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Even the gear selector is changed, adopting the piano-key layout Lincoln introduced a few years ago for other models. Finally, new color tones round out the interior changes.
Engine choices are the same as before. The Nautilus’ standard mill is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive (FWD) comes standard, but all-wheel drive (AWD) is an option. Fuel economy rings in at 21 mpg city, 26 highway, and 23 combined with FWD, or 20 mpg, 25 mpg, and 22 mpg with AWD—both on regular fuel. If that’s not enough for you, you can get a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine, sporting 335 hp and 380 lb-ft. Fuel economy with that engine dips to 19 mpg, 26 mpg, and 21 mpg on regular fuel. Whichever engine you get, you’ll benefit from automatic start-stop technology and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
As before, the Nautilus comes in Standard, Reserve, and Black Label configurations. The Black Label comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lamps, leatherette upholstery, a power liftgate, heated and folding side mirrors, 10-way comfort front seats, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat.
Phone as a Key is a brand-new feature for 2020. Available through the Lincoln Way app, it allows you to use your smartphone in lieu of a key to unlock and start the car, and to loan those same levels of access to any other smartphone user.
Meanwhile, the Reserve trim adds a Revel audio system with 13 speakers, a wireless charging pad, leather upholstery, heated and cooled driver and front passenger seats, a panoramic sunroof, and navigation. Finally, the Black Label comes with 21-inch wheels, Venetian leather upholstery, a Revel Ultima audio system with 19 speakers and HD radio, and unique interior color combinations.
Every Lincoln model comes standard with the Co-Pilot360 safety system. That gets you forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, reversing sensors, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The optional Co-Pilot360 Plus system adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane centering, and reverse automatic emergency braking. A 360-degree camera is a standalone option. Last year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Nautilus top “Good” scores for most categories, but a “Poor” headlight rating.
The Lincoln Nautilus always represented good value for the premium shopper. With the new interior appointments and presentation, that remains the case.
