Is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 6.8/10. The Range Rover’s appeal comes from its stylish design, premium interior, and multiple powertrain options, which make it a luxury SUV that can be tailored to different priorities. It’s also aimed at buyers who want image and comfort as much as capability.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is poor, and the touchscreen response is sluggish. Even so, the Range Rover remains distinctive because it combines a richly appointed cabin with a broad powertrain lineup. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The Range Rover’s appeal is reinforced by its upscale cabin, broad powertrain lineup, and the sense of security it offers when conditions get difficult. Its performance and capability focus also support the idea that it’s built to handle more than just everyday commuting.

The powertrain lineup includes multiple engine and hybrid choices, and the SUV’s 4WD system with a two-speed transfer case underscores its all-terrain intent. The available maintenance perk language also points to a more ownership-friendly experience in some configurations. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a luxury SUV with this much complexity can be expensive to keep in top shape.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Land Rover Range Rover?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any listing you’re considering, even if the market looks clean overall. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the infotainment system, suspension behavior, and any signs of heavy wear from luxury use. Focus on condition and equipment level, since this SUV’s value can swing a lot based on how it was optioned and maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The HSE Westminster special edition adds a more upscale equipment mix, while the base setup leaves advanced driver aids as optional rather than standard.
• Powertrain: You can shop multiple powertrain choices, including turbodiesel V6, supercharged V8, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options; the turbo-six setup is described as smooth and robust.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, front and rear parking sensors, and a cruise-control speed limiter. More advanced driver aids are bundled in optional packs.
• Infotainment: The system uses dual 10-inch touchscreens and a fully digital layout, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support; it is not especially intuitive, and the touchscreens can be distracting.
• Fuel efficiency: The tested model returned 20 mpg combined by EPA estimate, with 18.5 mpg observed on the evaluation loop.

Which 2021 Land Rover Range Rover trim should I buy?

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover is offered in 1 trim level: HSE Westminster.

Here's the short version:

The HSE Westminster is the trim that best reflects this model year’s strengths, pairing the mild-hybrid turbocharged inline-six with a more complete equipment mix. It adds the kind of upscale feel and capability that fit the Range Rover’s mission, and it’s the best-value path if you want the core luxury experience without chasing the most expensive configurations.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that advanced driver aids are not standard, so you’ll want to check which optional packs are included on any used example you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Land Rover Range Rover?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 842 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.27% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,597, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover's resale value?

The current average of $38,597 sits slightly below last year's $47,224.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure future resale returns. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to limit depreciation pain later. The Range Rover’s premium image and broad appeal can still support demand, especially for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover safe?

The 2021 Range Rover earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2021 Range Rover model includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, front and rear parking sensors, and a speed limiter for the cruise control. If you want more advanced protection, you’ll need to look for optional packages that add adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, traffic sign recognition, driver monitoring, lane-centering assistance, surround-view camera coverage, rear cross-traffic warning, and semi-autonomous parking.

One caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so trim and package content matter a lot on the used market. The available systems are described as effective, but you should verify exactly which driver-assistance features are installed on the vehicle you’re considering.
