How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 11.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,455 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.62/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, smooth ride, and impressive power, and many also point to its advanced technology features and luxury feel. The trade-offs are the lack of certain tech features for the price and weaker gas mileage, while the overview also frames it as a good fit if you value style, comfort, and driving character more than maximum efficiency or a long standard-equipment list. With 36.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its smooth ride, spacious cabin, and strong power helping reinforce that impression. The expert evaluation also describes it as a terrific all-arounder and an oldie but definitely a goodie, which supports the idea that it can be a solid long-term choice if you buy carefully. Jeep’s free scheduled maintenance for the first three years and 36,000 miles adds a useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and prior-use history matter more here than they would on a newer redesign.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, evidence of prior repairs, and whether the safety equipment and electronics work as expected. Because this model’s safety ratings are a known weak point, it is especially important to confirm that the specific vehicle you are considering has the features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans the affordable Laredo and Limited trim levels, the upscale Overland and Summit, the Trailhawk for serious off-roading, and the SRT and Trackhawk for track-ready performance. The base trims are the ones most likely to leave you wanting more, since the cabin and equipment can feel less premium than the higher trims.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 5.7-liter V8 makes 360 hp and 390 lb-ft and adds stronger towing and more effortless acceleration.
• Safety package: The ProTech II Package includes adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some safety features depend on trim level, so verify equipment carefully.
• Infotainment: The Uconnect 4C with Nav system includes navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and Jeep Skill for Amazon Alexa.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 is described as returning no more than 17 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, Trailhawk, and 80th Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s style and capability at the lowest starting point, but it is also the trim most likely to feel sparse compared with the rest of the lineup.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more polish without pushing you into the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for extra comfort and presentation.
• Summit: This is the luxury pick, with the richest interior treatment and the most premium overall vibe.
• Trailhawk: Pick this if off-road use matters most, since it is the trim aimed at serious trail driving.
• 80th Anniversary Edition: This is the commemorative choice if you want a special-edition version with added appeal beyond the standard lineup.

The safety package is not standard across the lineup, so confirm the exact equipment on any trim you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,455 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,263, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $22,263 sits slightly below last year's $25,226.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point today. For a future seller, the key implication is that resale value may remain sensitive to mileage, condition, and equipment because the model is already in a softer pricing phase. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than average, especially if they present clean history and strong equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA in 4WD form, while 2WD versions drop to four stars because of a three-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety suite on higher trims includes adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. The caveat is that these features are not standard across the lineup, and the IIHS results are the bigger concern: the Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal driver rating and a Poor front-passenger rating in small-overlap frontal testing, while its headlights also rate Poor unless you upgrade to the better lighting setup.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is the outgoing two-row Grand Cherokee, so you get the familiar formula before the redesign.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,234, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $22,263 average.
• It is a versatile midsize SUV with strong personality and off-road capability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $26,587, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $22,263 average.
• It brings a redesigned layout with more technology and sophistication.

The bottom line: If you want the familiar Grand Cherokee experience at a softer price, the 2021 is the better buy. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the value play; if you want the newer design and added tech, move up to the 2022.
