CarGurus Analysis: 2021 INFINITI Q50
overall

Summary
With 363 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,453.00, 22.6% of 2021 INFINITI Q50s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 INFINITI Q50 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.
60.6% of 2021 Q50 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a sports sedan that still leans hard into style and performance, even as age shows through in its technology and overall value. Infiniti’s own test-drive notes describe it as a car that “defies age, but still shows flaws,” which fits the Q50’s appeal: it looks and feels sporty, but it is no longer the freshest choice in its class. The available trim lineup includes Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400, and buyers can choose rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
For 2021, Infiniti kept the changes modest. The updates are limited to a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot. That makes the Q50 feel more current than before, but the broader impression remains one of a sedan that has been around for a while. Its strengths are clear in the test-drive data: stylish design, a powerful engine, and multiple powertrain options. Owner feedback reinforces that performance-first character, with praise for the powerful driving experience and the 400-horsepower engine.
At the same time, the Q50’s drawbacks are just as visible. The test-drive data calls out a cramped back seat, poor value for money, and outdated technology. That mix helps define the 2021 INFINITI Q50: it is appealing if you want a handsome, quick luxury sedan with a sporty personality, but it asks buyers to accept compromises in space, tech, and overall freshness.

Love my Q50 red sport. The power in this vehicle is amazing and perfect for the price! Still a luxury vehicle all while still being a sports car. Handling is amazing so happy with my purchase. The only thing I’m missing is my Apple car play. Which came after the 2019 models.

How much does the 2021 INFINITI Q50 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,545 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,513.07 |
| Year-Round High | $24,899.51 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,851 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −13.30% |
Prices have softened 13.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 369 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of choice if you want to compare trims and condition. If you find a listing below $21,513.07, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 a good car?
Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 6.83/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners repeatedly praise the powerful performance, the classy interior, and the engaging ride quality. The 400-horsepower engine is a recurring highlight, and the car’s sporty driving character comes through clearly in owner feedback.
The trade-offs are just as consistent: outdated technology and a cramped back seat are the main drawbacks, and the expert notes also call out poor value for money. If you want a stylish luxury sedan with a performance-first personality, the Q50 fits that use case better than shoppers who prioritize the newest tech or maximum cabin space.
Only 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its powerful performance and the kind of driving experience people can count on over time. The expert notes also reinforce that it delivers solid, consistent road manners and a strong highway feel.
Infiniti backs the car with a four-year, 60,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the bigger concern is less about basic durability and more about whether the car has been maintained well enough to avoid expensive age-related issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or paint mismatch. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s value depends heavily on whether it has been kept clean, current, and mechanically sound.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Pure and Luxe models use leatherette upholstery, while higher trims add more upscale touches; the interior styling is attractive, but material quality can feel uneven, so base-trim cabins deserve close inspection.
- Powertrain: Every 2021 Q50 uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with a seven-speed automatic, making 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque in most models, or 400 hp and 350 lb-ft in the Red Sport 400.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system require stepping up from Pure to Luxe. Models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control.
- Infotainment: The standard setup includes 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The system is functional, but the graphics and controls feel dated.
- Fuel efficiency: Most rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 23 mpg combined (20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway), while AWD versions are rated at 22 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway). The Red Sport 400 is rated at 22 mpg combined with RWD and loses 1 mpg in the city with AWD.
Which 2021 INFINITI Q50 trim should I buy?
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 is offered in 4 trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400.
Here's the short version:
- Pure: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Q50’s styling and twin-turbo V6 without stretching for extras. It gives you the core experience, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against Luxe because the safety and convenience upgrades are meaningful.
- Luxe: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the trim to target.
- Sensory: This trim adds a more upscale feel and gets the 16-speaker Bose audio system, making it a good fit if you care more about cabin ambiance and sound quality.
- Red Sport 400: This is the performance choice, with 400 hp, 350 lb-ft, red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, carbon-fiber exterior accents, and the sportiest setup in the lineup. It suits you best if you want the strongest acceleration and don’t mind paying for it.
The safety package is strongest once you move beyond Pure, since Luxe is where the key driver-assistance upgrades arrive.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 369 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.30% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 60.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,513.07, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 INFINITI Q50's resale value?
The current average of $21,545 sits slightly below last year's $24,851.
That decline suggests the Q50 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your biggest risk is overpaying now rather than facing a steep drop from here.
Because the model is already priced below its year-ago average, the remaining depreciation curve may be more manageable than it was before. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 safe?
The 2021 Infiniti Q50 received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but “Average” and “Marginal” ratings for headlights. At the time of publication, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) hadn’t released full safety ratings for the 2021 Q50, only showing five stars in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard, but you have to move up from Pure to Luxe to get adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system. Models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control, which helps keep the car centered in its lane.
The main caveat is the headlight performance, which trails the otherwise strong crash-test results. If safety is a top priority, the Q50 is strongest when you choose a trim that adds the missing driver-assistance features.
Should I buy a 2021 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.30% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 model adds a new Sensory trim, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot.
The bottom line: The 2021 Q50 makes the most sense if you want a stylish, quick luxury sedan and you’re comfortable trading some tech freshness and rear-seat space for performance and value. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year can still be worth considering, but the 2021 stands out for its updated equipment and softened used-car pricing.
