Summary
With 799 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,107.00, 31.8% of 2021 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Honda Ridgeline 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7 / 10.
78.2% of 2021 Ridgeline models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Ridgeline stands out by bringing a hefty dose of truck personality to a midsize crew cab pickup that has always been appealing. Honda’s styling, packaging, and functionality changes give it a more traditional truck look, which helps it attract buyers who want a pickup that feels more conventional without losing the Ridgeline’s practical appeal.
It also has several strengths that make it easy to like. The 2021 Ridgeline is praised for its stylish design, powerful engine, and great handling, and owners often appreciate its comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, and innovative truck bed and cargo space. Those qualities make it especially appealing for buyers who want a pickup that is pleasant to drive every day as well as useful for hauling.
There are tradeoffs, though. The 2021 Honda Ridgeline does not offer alternate bed or cab configurations, and its towing and payload capacities are limited. Some owners also noted the absence of specific safety features such as blind spot indicators and lane change warnings.

This is a great design for someone who needs a truck but not a 1/2 ton pickup. I am very happy with the way it drives and the technology that is included. I haven’t towed anything with it yet but I am confident that it will do what I need. I bought the RTL model because it had leather interior and a Sirius radio. II guess the most direct comparison will be the Hyundai Santa Cruz or the Ford Marverick. However it is more capable in many woes over those two models.

2021 Ridgeline RTL-E - Loaded with great features and very comfortable to drive. Great visibility. Lots of cargo space. Drives like a big car. Great for winter driving with AWD. This is my second Ridgeline. Drove a 2013 for 10 years. Loved it. Loving this one too. Perfect for someone who wants a truck but doesnt need the size of something like a F250.

I decided on the Honda Ridgeline. I have to say, in terms of refinement, sophistication, features, driveability, interior space, etc., Honda is light years ahead of the competition [Tacoma, Ranger and Canyon/Colorado]. The Tacoma and Ranger were pretty similar, but I think Ford upped their game lately – more so than Toyota. The GMC/Chev trucks are bottom of the barrel, not worth considering. I would concede that – if someone is looking first and foremost for serious off-roading features/capability, trucks along the lines of the Tacoma will top of their list. However, for me -- valuing year round city/highway driveability over off-roading adventures -- the Ridgeline makes a lot of sense.

Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 7.0/10 expert rating point to a truck that lands well with both owners and reviewers. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise the Ridgeline’s comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, and innovative truck bed and cargo space. The review summary also points to a smooth driving experience and practical everyday usability, which fits a truck that is meant to work well as a daily driver.
The main trade-offs are limited towing and payload capacity, plus the lack of alternate bed or cab configurations. In practical terms, that means you should like the Ridgeline most if you want a pickup that feels easy to live with rather than one built around maximum work-truck flexibility.
The Ridgeline’s use case is especially strong for buyers who spend more time commuting, running errands, and hauling everyday cargo than towing at the limit or heading off-road.
With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market opportunity to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary emphasizes that the Ridgeline feels comfortable, smooth, and practical over time, with many drivers highlighting its dependable everyday usability and innovative cargo solutions. The expert evaluation also describes it as a truck that is easy to live with and well suited to the 99% of driving you do without a trailer attached or boulders to negotiate.
Honda also includes a broad standard safety package, which can support confidence in long-term ownership when the truck is maintained properly. For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright complexity and more about choosing a well-kept example that hasn’t been neglected or damaged.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the truck’s body, cargo area, and interior condition, and make sure the features you care about work as expected. If you’re shopping a used pickup, focus on signs of hard use, since utility vehicles can vary a lot in how they were driven and maintained.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport trim is the only one with cloth seats, and it skips some of the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up the range.
- Powertrain: Every Ridgeline uses a 280-horsepower V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard torque-vectoring all-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centering assistance. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is standard on all but the Sport, and automatic high-beam headlights are reserved for the top trims.
- Infotainment: Every truck gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text-messaging capability, basic HondaLink connected services, and USB charging ports. Higher trims add SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, navigation, voice recognition, traffic information, a premium sound system, and wireless smartphone charging.
- Fuel efficiency: The Ridgeline is described as cost-competitive in its class, but the available data does not provide mpg figures.
Which 2021 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: Sport is the value play if you want the core Ridgeline experience, but it lacks blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning and the extra tech found higher up.
- Sweet-spot trim: RTL is the most balanced choice if you want more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top.
- Premium/top trim: Black Edition is the best pick if you want the most upscale presentation and the richest feature set.
- Off-road trim: The Ridgeline is not really built around serious off-road use, so daily drivers are better served by the mainstream trims.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not included on the Sport.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a fire sale.
- Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 809 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.04% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 77.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,210.77, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $28,111 sits slightly below last year's $29,296.
That price movement suggests the Ridgeline has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim rather than broad market momentum alone.
The Ridgeline’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among buyers who want comfort and everyday usability in a pickup. Well-kept examples should remain appealing because the truck’s practical strengths are easy for shoppers to understand.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline safe?
It earns 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centering assistance. The Ridgeline also includes a multi-angle reversing camera, while blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is standard on all but the Sport, and automatic high-beam headlights are limited to the top trims.
The expert review also notes a caution with the adaptive cruise control, which can react too aggressively in some traffic situations. That means you should test the driver-assistance systems carefully during a used-car inspection so you know how they behave in real-world driving.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.04% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 facelift gives the Ridgeline a more traditional truck look and adds meaningful styling and functionality updates.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $25,959, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $28,111 average.
- It offers truck utility with comfort and easy driving manners.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $29,834, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $28,111 average.
- It carries over the 2021 formula with comfort, quietness, and useful features.
The bottom line: The 2021 is the best primary choice if you want the refreshed look and the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, market availability, and everyday usability. If price is your top priority, the 2020 is the better value path, while the 2022 makes sense only if you find a cleaner or better-equipped example at a fair premium.
