How much does the 2021 Honda Odyssey cost?

Prices have softened 6.48% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,391 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used examples to compare.

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its space, safety features, and family-friendly usability, and they also call out its good drivability. The expert review reinforces that use case by describing it as a practical minivan that simplifies daily life, with especially strong appeal for buyers who want easy passenger and cargo loading. The main trade-offs are that it is not as luxurious as some competitors and it does not offer all-wheel drive. With 38.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels dependable for family duty, with strong emphasis on space, safety, and helpful family-focused features. The expert review also describes the Odyssey’s drivetrain as a terrific combination that supplies smooth, effortless power, which supports the sense that it is built to be easy to live with over time. Honda’s fuel-saving cylinder-management system also helps the V6 operate more efficiently under light loads.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the specific van has been maintained well enough to preserve its family-hauling usefulness.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Odyssey?

At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, safety systems, and interior wear. Because this is a family vehicle, condition matters not just for appearance but for how well the cabin, seats, and convenience features have held up to daily use. If possible, focus on examples with clean maintenance records and no signs of heavy wear from passenger or cargo duty.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with standard LED headlights and automatic high-beam operation on every trim, while the EX trim adds the first major step up in convenience and technology. Higher trims bring more upscale interior materials, with the Elite adding perforated leather upholstery with contrast stitching and piping, plus dashboard ambient lighting.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a ten-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The engine makes 280 horsepower, includes variable cylinder management, and is tuned for smooth, effortless power rather than sporty character.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on the base LX trim and adds low-speed follow capability for adaptive cruise control, pedestrian braking, road-sign recognition, and a dashboard menu button for ADAS settings. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning still requires at least EX trim.
• Infotainment: Starting with EX trim, you get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, text-messaging support, basic HondaLink connectivity, and the Cabin Control smartphone app. Touring adds navigation, WiFi capability, CabinWatch, and CabinTalk, while Elite adds an 11-speaker premium sound system, multi-zone listening options, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says it should return 22 mpg in combined driving, and testing returned 21.8 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2021 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it still gets standard LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation and Honda Sensing. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Odyssey and can live without the extra convenience and tech features found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, text-messaging support, basic HondaLink connectivity, and the Cabin Control app. It is also the first trim that unlocks blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning.
• EX-L: This trim is the natural step up if you want a more upscale cabin and more comfort-oriented equipment without jumping all the way to the Touring’s tech-heavy setup.
• Touring: This is the right choice if you want navigation, WiFi capability, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, and the rear-seat entertainment system. It suits families that will use the Odyssey as a long-distance road-trip vehicle.
• Elite: This is the most luxurious version, with perforated leather upholstery, ambient lighting, an 11-speaker premium sound system, multi-zone listening options, and wireless smartphone charging. It is the pick if you want the most premium-feeling Odyssey.

Honda Sensing is standard on the base LX, but blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning still requires at least EX trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Odyssey?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,391 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.48% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,268, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $26,268 sits slightly below last year's $28,089.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the good news is that the Odyssey still has broad family appeal, especially because shoppers continue to value space, safety, and easy day-to-day usability. A model with strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment should hold attention better than one with visible wear or accident history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2021 Honda Odyssey earns Top Safety Pick recognition from IIHS and five-star ratings for every NHTSA assessment aside from rollover resistance, for which it earns a four-star score.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on the base LX trim and includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, pedestrian braking, road-sign recognition, and a dashboard menu button for quick ADAS access. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning still requires at least EX trim. The safety systems work accurately, though the expert review notes that adaptive cruise control can feel a bit uneven and the lane-departure warning can be intrusive.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.48% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 brings freshened styling, standard LED headlights, and expanded Honda Sensing coverage.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,933, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $26,268 average.
• It carries forward the same light, effortless driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the model still delivers the core Odyssey strengths. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the secondary path, but it does not bring enough change to outweigh the 2021’s lower asking prices for most price-sensitive buyers.
