Used 2021 Honda HR-V for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2021 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 1.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,321 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda HR-V earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Form and function. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and value for money, along with its practical size and useful feature set. The overview also points to agile handling and everyday usability as key strengths, while the expert notes highlight that it remains a comfortable, easy-to-live-with small SUV. The main trade-offs are outdated technology and poor visibility. For you, that means the HR-V makes the most sense if you want a small crossover that prioritizes practicality and comfort over the latest tech. 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Drivers describe it as reliable and value it for being a practical, dependable small SUV that they can count on over time. The expert overview also reinforces that reputation by framing it as a sensible, easy-to-live-with crossover with a strong utility focus. Honda’s warranty coverage is competitive for the segment, which adds some reassurance for used buyers. For you, the main long-term ownership risk is that age-related tech and feature limitations may feel more noticeable as newer rivals continue to move ahead.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda HR-V?

At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether any prior damage affected alignment, panel fit, or safety equipment. It also makes sense to compare trim equipment carefully, because some of the HR-V’s most useful features are reserved for higher trims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, and it misses fog lights plus the more useful convenience and comfort upgrades found higher up. EX and EX-L models add push-button start, automatic climate control, a moonroof, heated front seats, and leather upholstery on the EX-L.
• Powertrain: The HR-V uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 141 horsepower and a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available across the lineup.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims. It includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and LaneWatch.
• Infotainment: The base LX gets a 5-inch display, Bluetooth, and a four-speaker audio system. Sport and higher trims add a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while EX and EX-L add SiriusXM satellite radio.
• Fuel efficiency: The HR-V is rated at 30 mpg combined, 28 mpg city, and 34 mpg highway with front-wheel drive. With all-wheel drive, it is rated at 29 mpg combined in LX trim and 28 mpg combined in Sport, EX, and EX-L spec.

Which 2021 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda HR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the HR-V, but it is also the most stripped-down. You get the basics, yet you miss the stronger infotainment setup and the safety and comfort upgrades that make the higher trims easier to recommend.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the more appealing exterior treatment and wheel upgrades. If you want the HR-V to feel more modern without stretching too far on price, this is the trim to target.
• EX: This is the smart step-up if you want the HR-V’s safety and convenience story to improve meaningfully. It adds Honda Sensing, push-button start, automatic climate control, a moonroof, and heated front seats.
• EX-L: This is the most upscale version, and it makes sense if you want the most comfort and the leather upholstery. It builds on the EX with the richest feature set in the lineup.

Honda Sensing is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda HR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,321 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,431, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $19,094 sits slightly below last year's $19,403.

That softer pricing suggests the HR-V has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it comes time to sell. The model’s practical reputation and broad appeal should continue to support demand, especially among shoppers who want a small SUV with a strong value story.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda HR-V safe?

The HR-V received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, and the top “Superior” rating for its optional front-crash prevention tech, but got “Marginal” and “Poor” headlight ratings depending on trim level, and an “Acceptable” rating for LATCH child-seat anchor ease of use. The HR-V earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash testing and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash testing.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts. Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and LaneWatch. The catch is that Honda Sensing is standard only on the EX and EX-L trims, so lower trims miss out on that full safety package. The headlight ratings are the main caveat to keep in mind when you shop.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model carries over without major updates, while still offering agile handling and impressive practicality for its size.

The bottom line: If you want a practical, comfortable small SUV and you find a clean, well-priced 2021 HR-V, it remains an easy recommendation. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also shop nearby model years for a similar ownership experience, but the 2021 still makes sense when the listing is in good condition and priced near the lower end of the range.
