Summary
With 388 currently listed for sale and an average price of $32,242.00, 32.7% of 2021 Genesis GV80s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Genesis GV80 4.92 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Genesis GV80 stands out as Genesis’s first SUV, and that alone gives it a special place in the brand’s lineup. It is a three-row luxury crossover that was designed to help Genesis reach a broader audience in the luxury SUV market, while also sharing a platform with the second-generation G80. Its appeal starts with stylish design and continues with impressive technology, giving it the kind of upscale presence buyers often want in this segment.
At the same time, the GV80 is not without compromises. The base engine is described as underwhelming, and the third row is cramped, which may matter to shoppers who need maximum passenger space. Even so, it is presented as excellent value for money, and owner feedback reinforces its luxurious feel, comfortable seats, strong performance from the turbo engine, and high-tech interior. Some drivers also noted that the ride could feel a bit wallowy at times, but for buyers prioritizing style, technology, and a premium atmosphere, the 2021 Genesis GV80 has a clear identity.

Misses nothing. Comparable to the BMW X5, the Audi 6 series, the Porsche Cayenne, the Lincoln aviator. There are a lot of cars that the Genesis ranks in the same category however, you get more standard options for less money.

The features were great as well as the value. This GV80 is missing nothing and I would compare it to Mercedes Benz. Nothing else compares with the value and price of this vehicle

This car is packed with features and driver convenience functions. I traded in my 2020 Escalade and I am glad I did. Although considerably smaller, the technology in this car is lightyears ahead of the 2020 Cadillac.

How much does the 2021 Genesis GV80 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $32,094 |
| Year-Round Low | $32,113.57 |
| Year-Round High | $35,731.03 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $35,733 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.18% |
Prices have softened 10.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 405 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $32,113.57, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Genesis GV80 a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Genesis GV80 earns a 4.92/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.
Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, comfortable seats, and high-tech interior, and they also highlight strong performance from the turbo engine. The GV80’s stylish design and excellent value for money come through clearly in both owner feedback and the vehicle overview.
The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the cramped third row. That means you’ll like this SUV most if you want a premium-feeling three-row crossover with a strong tech story, rather than maximum passenger space or the most exciting entry-level powertrain.
With 28.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Genesis GV80 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.92/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the GV80’s luxurious feel and strong performance. The overview also reinforces that it is a well-rounded SUV with a clear premium identity, which helps support confidence in day-to-day use.
Genesis backs that up with a long warranty and complimentary scheduled maintenance, which can reduce early ownership stress. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle was maintained properly and hasn’t been worn down by heavy use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Genesis GV80?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only one part of the picture. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the vehicle’s premium features are functioning as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The cabin is described as sleek and uncluttered, with a 14.5-inch high-definition widescreen display, real wood, real metal, genuine leather, and excellent fit and finish. Wheel sizes vary by trim level, and the base setup does not get every upscale feature, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the most premium feel.
- Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, or a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder is sufficient for most driving, while the V6 is smoother and stronger.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes 10 airbags, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, driver attention warning, safe-exit assist, adaptive cruise control with machine learning, highway-driving assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist. The safety content also notes that Genesis was targeting top crash-test results, but no official ratings are listed here.
- Infotainment: The GV80 uses a 14.5-inch HD screen, supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes over-the-air updates. Navigation is standard, and Genesis Connected Services is included for three years.
- Fuel efficiency: The 2.5T RWD is rated at 21 mpg city/25 mpg highway/23 mpg combined, the 2.5T AWD at 21/25/22, and the 3.5T AWD at 18/23/20.
Which 2021 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?
The 2021 Genesis GV80 is offered in 7 trim levels: 2.5T RWD Standard, 2.5T RWD Advanced, 2.5T RWD Prestige, 2.5T AWD Standard, 2.5T AWD Advanced, 2.5T AWD Prestige, 3.5T AWD Standard, 3.5T AWD Advanced, 3.5T AWD Advanced+, 3.5T AWD Prestige.
Here's the short version:
- 2.5T RWD Standard: This is the entry point if you want the GV80’s design, cabin quality, and core tech without stretching the budget. It gives you the basic luxury-SUV experience, but you’ll want to step up if you care about more convenience and premium features.
- 2.5T RWD Advanced: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger mix of equipment and price. It builds on the standard model with more of the features that make the GV80 feel genuinely upscale.
- 2.5T RWD Prestige: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped rear-wheel-drive version of the four-cylinder model. It makes the GV80 feel more complete, especially if you value comfort and luxury touches over all-weather traction.
- 2.5T AWD Standard: This is the right pick if you want all-wheel drive without jumping to the V6. It keeps the four-cylinder’s efficiency advantage while adding traction for tougher weather.
- 2.5T AWD Advanced: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers who want AWD plus a richer feature set. It balances value and equipment well.
- 2.5T AWD Prestige: Pick this if you want the most upscale four-cylinder AWD version and are willing to pay for the added comfort and convenience.
- 3.5T AWD Standard: This is the entry to the stronger V6 powertrain, and it suits you if smoothness and extra punch matter more than fuel economy.
- 3.5T AWD Advanced: This is a strong middle ground for V6 shoppers, adding more equipment while keeping the more desirable engine.
- 3.5T AWD Advanced+: This trim adds even more premium content and is a good fit if you want a near-top-spec V6 without going all the way to the highest price.
- 3.5T AWD Prestige: This is the top choice if you want the most luxurious and fully featured GV80 in this model year.
Safety content notes that Genesis was targeting top crash-test results, and the GV80’s standard driver-assistance suite is extensive across the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Genesis GV80?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 405 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.18% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 81.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $32,113.57, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Genesis GV80's resale value?
The current average of $32,094 sits slightly below last year's $35,733.
That kind of price movement suggests the GV80 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying now and planning to sell later. If the market stays steady, a lower entry price can reduce the amount of value you lose over your ownership period.
The flip side is that resale strength will depend on how well the vehicle is equipped and maintained. Higher-demand trims and clean-history examples should hold up better than neglected or heavily worn ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.92/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Genesis GV80 safe?
It earns 10 airbags, including a front-center airbag, and comes with a broad suite of driver-assistance features: blind-spot collision avoidance assist with rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, lane-change oncoming, junction-turning, junction-crossing, lane-change side, evasive steering torque assist, driver attention warning, safe-exit assist with power child lock, adaptive cruise control with machine learning, highway-driving assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
That safety package is a major strength, especially if you want a luxury SUV with a long list of standard active-safety tech. The main caveat is that official crashworthiness ratings are not listed here, so you should weigh the equipment list alongside any history-report findings and inspection results.
Should I buy a 2021 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
- 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.18% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.92/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 GV80 is presented as Genesis’s first SUV, with a strong mix of style, technology, and value, but the base engine and cramped third row are the main compromises.
The 2021 is a smart choice if you want the GV80’s original formula at a lower price and you care most about luxury feel, tech, and value. If you’re shopping primarily on equipment breadth or want to compare against a newer version with more available tech, a later model year may be worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, though, the 2021’s softened pricing and strong owner satisfaction make it the more compelling entry point.
