Used 2021 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearRichmond, VA

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Trax cost?

Prices have softened 12.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,420 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5.8/5 user rating and a 5.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

The Trax’s appeal is rooted in its affordable subcompact-SUV positioning, easy-to-use technology, and maneuverable footprint that makes it simple to place in tight spaces. Those strengths make it a practical fit if you want straightforward daily usability and helpful tech features without stretching your budget.

The trade-offs are significant: sluggish performance, cheap-feeling interior materials, and poor ride quality all hold it back. If you value low entry price and city-friendly convenience more than refinement, the Trax can still make sense.

29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Trax is described as an affordable, easy-to-live-with subcompact SUV, and its simple layout can work in your favor if you want a vehicle that is straightforward to use every day. Its helpful infotainment and maneuverable size also support the idea of a low-stress ownership experience.

On the other hand, the Trax’s weak performance and firm ride suggest that long-term satisfaction may depend on whether you can live with its compromises. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that the low purchase price may be offset by a driving experience that feels dated or underwhelming over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Trax?

At 67.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a lower-priced example. Focus on overall condition, because the Trax’s value proposition depends heavily on whether the car has been maintained well and avoided hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, remote keyless entry, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, dual front USB ports, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. The LT adds heated, power-adjustable side mirrors, rear window tint, roof rails, LED head- and taillights, remote start, cruise control, chrome belt-line moldings, silver-painted skid plates, upgraded cloth and leatherette seats, a cargo security cover, and a 120-volt AC power outlet. The LT is the better value if you want more everyday convenience and comfort.
• Powertrain: The Trax uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. It makes 138 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, and the engine is described as adequate around town but strained at highway speeds.
• Safety package: The Trax comes standard with an array of airbags and a backup camera. The LT Convenience Package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking sensors. Even with that package, the Trax still lacks many driver-assistance features that rivals offer.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet Infotainment 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, voice control, two USB ports, and an available WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD model returns 26 mpg city, 31 highway, and 28 combined. With AWD, it returns 24 mpg city, 29 highway, and 26 combined.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 2 trim levels: LS and LT.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the Trax’s core strengths: the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, remote keyless entry, and the WiFi hotspot. If you’re shopping strictly for the lowest price and can live without extra comfort and convenience features, this is the trim to start with.
• LT: This is the better-value choice if you want a more complete daily driver. It adds heated, power-adjustable side mirrors, roof rails, remote start, cruise control, upgraded seating, and a cargo security cover, along with the LT Convenience Package’s added driver-assistance features. If you want the most usable version of the Trax, this is the one to target.

The LT Convenience Package is the key safety-package upgrade to look for if you want blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking sensors.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,420 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,928, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $12,952 sits slightly below last year's $14,797.

That decline suggests the Trax has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face continued pressure if the model stays in a value-focused position. For you, that can be a plus on the buying side, since softer pricing often improves your negotiating leverage.

The Trax’s resale outlook is tied closely to its affordability and broad appeal as a simple, city-friendly SUV. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, but it did not receive a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Trax comes standard with an array of airbags and a backup camera. The LT Convenience Package adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking sensors, but the Trax still falls short of the driver-assistance content many rivals offer.

That limited safety equipment is the main caution for used buyers: even though the crash-test result is strong, the available active-safety tech is sparse compared with what you can get elsewhere.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model keeps the helpful infotainment updates and the simplified LS/LT lineup, while dropping the Premier trim from the range.

The bottom line: If you want the Trax’s low entry price, easy-to-use tech, and city-friendly size, the 2021 is the right year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a lower-mileage example or a better-equipped trim gives you more value for the money.
