How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,917 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.78/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, advanced technology, comfortable ride, and reliability. The Tahoe’s redesign also improves the areas that mattered most for this generation, including interior comfort, cargo space, towing capability, and driving dynamics, which makes it especially appealing if you want a full-size SUV that feels more modern and more useful than before.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, uncomfortable seats, and a high price tag for basic models. For you, that means the Tahoe makes the most sense if you need the space, capability, and family-hauling utility that a full-size SUV is built to deliver.

With 39.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they feel confident in the Tahoe over the long term. The expert review also describes the 5.3-liter V8 and 10-speed automatic as refined and effortlessly capable, which supports the idea that the core drivetrain is built for steady everyday use.

Chevrolet also notes that the engine uses Dynamic Fuel Management to help improve efficiency, and the Tahoe’s broader redesign brings more modern hardware and technology. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, feature-rich SUV can become expensive to own if prior maintenance was skipped or if you choose a heavily optioned example with more systems to inspect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the suspension, electronics, and any added convenience or driver-assistance equipment. It also helps to pay close attention to seat condition, cabin wear, and whether the vehicle’s features match the trim level you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe LS and LT differ in grille treatment, while the RST adds a blacked-out look and 22-inch wheels. The Z71 stands out with a redesigned front end for improved off-roading capability, red tow hooks, a skid plate, and all-terrain tires, while Premier and High Country add more upscale exterior trim and wheels. The base LS uses cloth seats, while leather starts on LT, so feature gaps are most obvious at the lower end.
• Powertrain: Chevrolet offers a standard 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, plus an available 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque on High Country. A turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline six-cylinder is also mentioned as an available efficiency-focused option for most versions, and the 10-speed automatic is standard.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, rear-seat reminder, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses a standard 10.2-inch touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, and Chevrolet Connected Services. Navigation is an upgrade, and there are two available Bose premium audio systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the diesel promises a significant improvement in fuel efficiency, and the 5.3-liter V8 is described as returning 18 mpg in combined driving for a 4WD Tahoe, with 16.4 mpg seen on the test loop.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tahoe’s core space and capability with cloth seats and the basic exterior treatment. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and plan to add only the options you truly need.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seating and a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the luxury-focused upper trims. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort and price, this is the one to focus on first.
• RST: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance package, including the blacked-out look and 22-inch wheels. It is more about style than added utility, so it suits you best if appearance matters more than value.
• Z71: This is the trim to choose if you want the most rugged setup, with a redesigned front end for improved off-roading capability, tow hooks, a skid plate, all-terrain tires, and standard 4WD. It is the right pick if you want the Tahoe’s capability-first character.
• Premier: This trim moves into more luxury-oriented territory with chrome accents, polished wheels, and features such as adaptive cruise control and the Safety Alert Seat. It is a strong choice if you want comfort and more advanced safety equipment.
• High Country: This is the top-end luxury and power choice, with the 6.2-liter V8, unique leather, and the most upscale exterior treatment. Buy this if you want the most premium Tahoe experience and are willing to pay for it.

Safety equipment is not fully standard across the lineup, so pay close attention to which driver-assistance features are included on the exact trim and option package you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 39.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,917 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,250, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $39,250 sits slightly below last year's $45,322.

That price movement suggests the Tahoe has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell.

The Tahoe’s broad appeal as a full-size SUV also helps support demand, especially for shoppers who need space, towing ability, and a modern cabin. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe was not crash tested by either NHTSA or IIHS at the time of publication.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. You can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country trims get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

One important caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should verify exactly what is included on the specific Tahoe you’re considering. The available surround-view camera is also worth seeking out because it helps a lot with maneuvering such a large SUV.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 39.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model year is the redesign that brings improved passenger comfort, expanded cargo space, and upgraded technology.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Tahoe with the biggest step forward in comfort, space, and tech, the 2021 is the right year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on lower-priced listings, but the 2021’s redesign makes it the more compelling choice for most buyers who want the modernized version of this SUV.
