How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.35% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,020 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.78/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, and advanced technology, and they also call out the comfortable ride and reliability. The Tahoe’s roomy cabin and spacious third row make it especially appealing if you need a family hauler or a long-trip SUV. On the other hand, the expert review notes poor fuel economy and uncomfortable seats, and it also points out that advanced safety features are not standard.

For shoppers who want a full-size SUV with strong market presence and a fresh redesign, the 2021 Tahoe fits that brief well. It also shows healthy market interest, with 38.2% of listings classified as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they feel confident counting on it over the long term. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the 5.3-liter V8 and 10-speed automatic as refined and effortlessly capable, while also noting that the Tahoe’s engineering changes improve ride quality and everyday usability. The available maintenance perk language is not present in the source data, but the overall ownership picture still leans positive for buyers who plan to keep the SUV for years.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, feature-rich SUV can become expensive to live with if it has been neglected or heavily used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Start with a history report so you can confirm accident status, title status, and service patterns before you get too far into the process. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, suspension, and electronics, since this Tahoe’s value depends heavily on condition and equipment. You should also focus on whether the truck has the features you want, because advanced safety equipment is not standard across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe LS uses cloth seats, while the LT adds leather. The RST brings a blacked-out appearance and 22-inch wheels, the Z71 adds a rugged look with off-road-oriented hardware, the Premier adds more upscale exterior trim and perforated leather, and the High Country gets the most luxurious presentation with unique leather and bright exterior details. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, while the High Country gets a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. A turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline six-cylinder is also mentioned as an available option on most versions, and the Tahoe uses a 10-speed automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, rear-seat reminder, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection. Premier and High Country can also get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses a 10.2-inch touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, and connected services. Navigation and Bose audio upgrades are available, and the system’s wireless smartphone integration is a major plus.
• Fuel efficiency: The source data says the diesel promises a significant improvement in fuel efficiency and suggests about a five-mpg combined-driving gain, while the 5.3-liter V8 is rated at 18 mpg combined in 4WD form.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tahoe’s core space and capability, but the cloth seats and simpler presentation make it the trim most likely to feel basic if you want a more upscale family SUV.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather and a more polished feel without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-oriented models.
• RST: Choose this if you want the sportier look, including the blacked-out appearance and 22-inch wheels, but it is more about style than added utility.
• Z71: This is the right pick if you want the rugged trim with off-road-oriented hardware, all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and standard 4WD; it is the most characterful choice in the lineup.
• Premier: This trim is the step up for buyers who want more luxury, with more chrome, polished wheels, perforated leather, and access to more advanced safety equipment.
• High Country: This is the top-end choice, with the most powerful engine, the most upscale cabin materials, and the most premium exterior treatment.

Higher trims or options are needed if you want the full safety feature set, since advanced driver-assistance equipment is not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough price softness to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,020 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,883, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $38,883 sits slightly below last year's $44,874.

That price drop suggests the Tahoe has moved into a more buyer-friendly part of its cycle, which can help you buy with less risk of overpaying. For a future seller, the softer market means you may not recover as much as owners did a year ago unless your Tahoe is especially clean, well equipped, and well maintained. The good news is that strong demand for full-size SUVs and the Tahoe’s broad appeal should still support resale better than many less popular vehicles.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. You can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country trims can get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

One important caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to shop carefully if those systems matter to you. The source data also notes that crash testing had not yet been performed when the review was published.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 redesign brings major gains in interior comfort, cargo space, towing capability, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation.

The bottom line: The 2021 Tahoe is the better choice if you want the redesigned model with the biggest improvements in space, tech, and everyday usability. If your priority is simply spending less, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you give up the benefits of the redesign that make this Tahoe feel much more modern and useful.
