How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 13.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,975 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, modern design, and advanced technology, and many also call out the comfortable ride and reliability. The Tahoe’s redesign is aimed at improving interior comfort, cargo space, towing capability, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation, which fits well if you want a full-size SUV for family hauling and long trips.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, uncomfortable seats, and advanced safety features that are not standard. Even so, the Tahoe’s broad appeal and strong market presence make it a compelling choice if you need a large SUV with real utility. Good and great deals account for 37.5% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they feel confident in the Tahoe over the long term. The expert review also describes the drivetrain as refined and effortlessly capable, which supports the impression that the Tahoe is built to handle daily use and bigger jobs without drama.

Chevrolet also highlights a 10-speed automatic transmission and Dynamic Fuel Management, both of which are part of the Tahoe’s efficiency-minded engineering. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, feature-rich SUV can become expensive to keep if you buy one that has been neglected or heavily optioned.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any Tahoe you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the seats, electronics, and suspension, since those are the kinds of areas that can affect day-to-day satisfaction in a large SUV. It also makes sense to focus on how the vehicle was used, because the Tahoe’s value is tied closely to comfort, cargo room, and towing capability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe LS and LT differ in grille treatment, while the RST adds a blacked-out look and 22-inch wheels. The Z71 brings a redesigned front end for improved off-roading capability, red tow hooks, a skid plate, and unique 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Premier adds chrome accents and polished wheels, and High Country gets a chrome bar grille, big 22-inch wheels, and body-color mirror caps.
• Powertrain: Chevrolet offers a standard 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, plus a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque on High Country. A turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline six-cylinder is also mentioned as an available efficiency-focused option, and the Tahoe uses a 10-speed automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims or options can add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country can get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses a standard 10.2-inch touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, and Chevrolet Connected Services. Navigation and Bose premium audio systems are available, and the system also supports a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The Tahoe’s official EPA estimate for a 4WD model is 18 mpg in combined driving, and the diesel engine is described as offering a significant improvement in fuel efficiency with an expected five-mpg improvement in combined driving.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 6 trim levels: Tahoe LS, Tahoe LT, Tahoe RST, Tahoe Z71, Tahoe Premier, Tahoe High Country.

Here's the short version:

• Tahoe LS: This is the entry point, with cloth seats and the core Tahoe formula. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Tahoe, but you give up the more upscale materials and equipment found higher up.
• Tahoe LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather and keeps the Tahoe’s core strengths intact without pushing you into the pricier luxury-oriented models.
• Tahoe RST: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance package, including the slotted grille, blacked-out look, and 22-inch wheels.
• Tahoe Z71: This is the rugged choice, with a redesigned front end for improved off-roading capability, red tow hooks, a skid plate, all-terrain tires, and standard 4WD. It suits you best if you want the most trail-ready version.
• Tahoe Premier: This trim adds chrome accents, polished wheels, perforated leather, and access to more advanced safety equipment, making it a strong upscale pick.
• Tahoe High Country: This is the most luxurious version, with the 6.2-liter V8, premium leather, and the most upscale exterior treatment.

For safety, the Tahoe’s more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims or options, so you should pay close attention to equipment lists if those systems matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,975 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,624, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $38,624 sits slightly below last year's $44,675.

That price movement suggests the Tahoe has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell. The Tahoe’s strong market presence also helps support demand, especially for shoppers who want a large SUV with real utility.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder system, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. You can also add lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear pedestrian detection, while Premier and High Country trims can get adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, a Safety Alert Seat, and an upgraded blind-spot warning system with trailer coverage.

One important caveat is that crash testing had not yet been performed when this review was published, so you should lean more heavily on the standard safety equipment and the available driver-assistance features when comparing listings.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model year is the redesign year, with improved comfort, cargo space, towing capability, driving dynamics, technology, and innovation.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Tahoe with the biggest leap forward in comfort and technology, the 2021 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may still want to compare nearby years, but the 2021 gives you the fresh redesign and the strongest mix of value and capability in this generation.
