How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 14.32% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,802 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, spaciousness, and family-friendly comfort, and many compare it favorably to more expensive SUVs. The Suburban also stands out for its roomy cabin and practical features, which fit well if you want a large SUV that can handle passengers and cargo without giving up traditional truck-based capability. On the downside, the size can feel overwhelming in tighter spaces, and the ride-focused strengths come with some trade-offs in everyday maneuverability.

The market also shows 32.1% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many owners describing it as a vehicle they can count on for family use and long-haul comfort. The expert review also emphasizes its truck-like durability and its ability to deliver strong capability over time, especially for buyers who need a full-size SUV that can handle regular use and heavy-duty tasks. If you buy used, the main long-term risk is that a large, complex SUV can become costly if prior wear or neglected maintenance is hiding in the history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Suburban?

At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, suspension behavior, and any evidence that the vehicle was used hard or repaired poorly. Because this is a large, feature-rich SUV, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS starts with the standard infotainment system, 18-inch alloy wheels, a trailer hitch, power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, remote start, a WiFi hotspot, and a wall-style power outlet. The LT adds a hands-free power liftgate, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and a nine-speaker Bose premium stereo. The Z71 adds a more rugged look and off-road-oriented hardware, while the Premier adds adaptive suspension, navigation, power-folding third-row seats, and heated-and-ventilated front seats. The High Country adds upscale equipment, but the cabin still does not fully match a true luxury SUV.
• Powertrain: The standard 5.3-liter V8 makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and Chevrolet also offers a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six is also available and is the efficiency-focused choice. All engines use a 10-speed automatic, with rear-wheel drive standard and 4WD available.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver. Available features include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, front parking sensors, and a surround-view monitor camera system. Some of those features are optional even though competitors may include them more broadly.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.2-inch touchscreen with GM’s infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a helpful home button below the screen. Navigation is available, along with a rear entertainment system and an available head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel engine returns 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined in rear-wheel-drive form, while the 4WD diesel returns 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The 5.3-liter V8 returns 16 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive, or 15 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined with 4WD. The 6.2-liter V8 returns 15 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive, or 14 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 16 mpg combined with 4WD.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the value-oriented starting point, and it already gives you the core Suburban formula with the standard infotainment system, tri-zone climate control, remote start, and a WiFi hotspot. If you want the lowest entry price and can live without luxury extras, this is the trim to start with.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, a hands-free power liftgate, and a premium Bose stereo. It gives you a noticeable comfort upgrade without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Z71: This is the rugged choice, with 4WD with low range, tow hooks, skid plates, and all-terrain tires. It makes sense if you want the most trail-ready version of the lineup.
• RST: This trim leans into a sportier appearance with 22-inch wheels, dark exterior accents, and a black interior with red stitching. It is the pick if style matters more than added utility.
• Premier: This is the comfort-focused upgrade, adding adaptive suspension, navigation, power-folding third-row seats, and heated-and-ventilated front seats. It suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• High Country: This is the top trim, with woodgrain and leather, plus available high-end equipment and the most upscale presentation in the lineup. It is the right choice if you want the most luxurious Suburban experience, though it still feels more like an upscale truck than a true luxury SUV.

The safety package includes standard automatic emergency braking, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver, while several advanced driver-assistance features remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Suburban?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,802 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,191, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $37,191 sits slightly below last year's $43,408.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Suburban’s value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment because buyers in this segment are especially sensitive to history and upkeep. If you keep the vehicle clean, well maintained, and accident-free, you should be in a better position when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver. Available driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, front parking sensors, and a surround-view monitor camera system. Chevrolet also offers a rear-view camera mirror and Safety Alert Seat as optional features.

One important caveat is that some advanced safety features are optional rather than standard, so you should check the exact equipment on any used listing you consider.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, modern infotainment, and a new turbodiesel option.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $41,803, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,191 average.
• It adds more standard tech and safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and the model already delivers the core Suburban strengths. If you are willing to pay more for added standard technology and safety, the 2022 is the better upgrade path.
