How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 14.35% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,817 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, spaciousness, and family-friendly comfort, and many compare it favorably to more expensive SUVs. The Suburban also stands out for its roomy cabin and practical layout, which fit the needs of shoppers who want a large SUV for passengers and cargo. On the downside, experts note that its size can feel unwieldy in tighter spaces, and the truck-based design brings some compromises in refinement.

The market also shows 36.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with owners especially valuing the Suburban’s comfort and spaciousness over the long haul. The expert review also emphasizes its durable truck-based character and its ability to serve as a capable, long-term family hauler. The diesel powertrain adds another efficiency-minded option for buyers who want a more usable daily driver.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, heavily used SUV can hide wear from years of family duty, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Suburban?

At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or trucks with multiple owners. Focus on signs of body damage, uneven tire wear, suspension wear, and interior wear that can come from heavy family use. Because this is a large, truck-based SUV, you’ll also want to confirm that all comfort and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS comes with the standard infotainment system, 18-inch alloy wheels, a trailer hitch, power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, remote start, a WiFi hotspot, and a wall-style power outlet. The LT adds a hands-free power liftgate, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and a nine-speaker Bose premium stereo.
• Powertrain: The standard 5.3-liter V8 makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and Chevrolet also offers a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel is also available, and the diesel brings strong torque and better efficiency.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, front parking sensors, and a surround-view monitor camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is available, and so is a rear entertainment system with large touchscreens.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined with RWD, while the 5.3-liter V8 returns 16 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined with RWD.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you the core Suburban experience with the standard infotainment system, remote start, tri-zone climate control, and a trailer hitch. It suits you if you want the biggest cabin and the lowest entry price without chasing luxury extras.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, a hands-free power liftgate, and a premium Bose audio system. If you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to target.
• Z71: This is the off-road-inspired choice, with four-wheel drive, tow hooks, skid plates, and all-terrain tires. It makes sense if you want the rugged look and hardware, but it is not the best pick if your priority is value.
• RST: This trim leans into a sportier appearance with 22-inch wheels, dark exterior accents, and a black interior with red stitching. Choose it if style matters more to you than maximum comfort or utility upgrades.
• Premier: This is the first trim that really pushes into upscale territory, adding adaptive suspension, navigation, power-folding third-row seats, and heated-and-ventilated front seats. It is a strong choice if you want a more polished Suburban for frequent family travel.
• High Country: This is the range-topper, and it adds the most luxury-oriented equipment, including the available High Country Deluxe package with adaptive air suspension, power-retractable running boards, a panoramic sunroof, and additional driver-assistance features. It is best if you want the most feature-rich Suburban and are willing to pay for it.

The Z71 is the off-road trim, while the High Country is the most luxury-oriented version.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Suburban?

The market looks moderate and selective buyers should have room to negotiate.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,817 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,122, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $37,122 sits slightly below last year's $43,342.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than just model-year desirability. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than worn trucks with visible use.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver. Available driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, front parking sensors, and a surround-view monitor camera system. Chevrolet also offers a rear-view camera mirror and Safety Alert Seat as options.

One important caveat is that some advanced safety features are optional rather than standard, so you may need to shop carefully if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, a standard 10.2-inch touchscreen, and available turbodiesel efficiency.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $41,629, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,122 average.
• It adds standard Google built-in and more standard driver-assistance tech.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and the feature set is already strong. If you want newer tech and more standard safety equipment, the 2022 is worth the extra money.
