Used 2021 BMW 2 Series for Sale nearColumbus, OH

How much does the 2021 BMW 2 Series cost?

Prices have softened 8.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 580 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2021 BMW 2 Series a good car?

Yes — 5/5 from owners, and the expert rating is 6.33/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

The 2021 BMW 2 Series is a compact, entry-level BMW with multiple body styles, so you can shop it as a coupe, convertible, or Gran Coupe depending on how you want to use it. The appeal is strongest if you want a small luxury car that feels engaging and brings a lot of technology.

The trade-offs are clear: the seats are uncomfortable, the back seat is cramped, and it is poor value for money. That means you should think of it as a driver-focused small BMW rather than a practical all-rounder.

34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 BMW 2 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 BMW 2 Series is presented as a compact luxury model with strong technology and a driving-focused character, and the expert review also points to solid performance and safety scores. Its performance setup includes a turbocharged four-cylinder, an eight-speed sport automatic transmission, and xDrive availability, all of which support a capable everyday driving experience.

BMW also includes free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium small car with a firm ride and complex equipment can become expensive if prior maintenance was skipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 BMW 2 Series?

At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the car has any accident history or incomplete service records. Focus on the condition of the seats, rear cabin, and technology features, since those are the areas where this model’s compromises are most likely to matter to you.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 228i and M235i model series differ in equipment and character, and the 228i can be paired with xDrive while xDrive is standard on the M235i. The base setup is more stripped down than higher-spec versions, so you should pay close attention to which convenience and appearance features are included.
• Powertrain: The 228i uses a 228-hp turbocharged four-cylinder with an eight-speed sport automatic transmission, and xDrive is available depending on the model series. The setup is quick enough for everyday driving and can feel lively in Sport mode.
• Safety package: The Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning with intervention, and a speed limit information system. A separate Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control and a parking-assistant feature.
• Infotainment: The system uses BMW iDrive 7.0 with an 8.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, navigation, connected services, and over-the-air software updates. Live Cockpit Plus uses a 5.1-inch display, while Live Cockpit Pro brings a fully digital 10.25-inch display.
• Fuel efficiency: The test car averaged 27.9 mpg, and BMW cites 27 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2021 BMW 2 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 228i and M235i.

Here's the short version:

• 228i: This is the better-value choice if you want the entry point into the lineup with the core BMW driving feel and available xDrive. It gives you the compact luxury experience without pushing you into the more expensive performance-oriented model.
• M235i: Choose this if you want the stronger standard performance setup and standard xDrive. It suits you best if you care more about speed and all-weather traction than keeping the purchase price down.

The safety package is split between the standard Active Driving Assistant features and the optional Driving Assistance Package, so check the build sheet carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 BMW 2 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop carefully and be ready to move when you find a strong example.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 580 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,383, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 BMW 2 Series's resale value?

The current average of $21,499 sits slightly below last year's $23,538.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain service records, you can help protect value better than the average listing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 BMW 2 Series safe?

The 2021 BMW 2 Series misses earning a Top Safety Pick due to headlights that rate either Poor or Marginal, and the vehicle-to-pedestrian test also results in a less than perfect rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning with intervention, and a speed limit information system. A separate Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control and a parking-assistant feature that steers the car into a space while you operate the pedals and transmission.

The main caveat is that the available safety tech is strong, but the headlight performance keeps it from reaching the top IIHS honor.

Should I buy a 2021 BMW 2 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds a new Driving Assistance Package and standard advanced driver-assistance features.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $22,773, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $21,499 average.
• It offers an affordable entry into BMW ownership with easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,971, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,499 average.
• It brings a refreshed look, more power, and more performance.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, availability, and modern features, the 2021 is the sensible pick. If you are shopping strictly on value, you should compare carefully against the 2020 and 2022, but the 2021 gives you the strongest balance of current pricing and feature content.
