Overview
In 2019, Volvo redesigned its compact V60 wagon. For 2020, the V60 gets several updates, including the addition of the Cross Country and Polestar Engineered trims.
The V60 is available with three powertrains. The T5 includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to an 8-speed automatic transmission. While front-wheel drive (FWD) comes standard, all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. The T5 delivers fuel economy as high as 23 mpg city, 34 highway, and 27 combined on premium fuel.
The T6 employs a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 316 hp and 295 lb-ft and comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD. Fuel economy stands at 22, 31 and 25.
Finally, the all-new T8 Polestar Engineered package arrives for 2020. It’s a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that comes with the same engine as the T6, but with an electric motor and battery, making a total 415 hp and 494 lb-ft, and standard AWD. The fuel-economy ratings and all-electric range aren’t available as of this writing.
The Momentum trim defines the V60’s standard content, which includes LED active headlights, an 8-inch driver display, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 18-inch wheels. The R-Design trim comes with paddle shifters, sporty styling, and some track-optimized features, while the Inscription grade focuses on luxury and refinement. With the Cross Country trim, you get as many as 3 inches of increased ground clearance, AWD, rugged black-plastic lower cladding, an off-road driving mode, and some unique design touches. The Polestar Engineered gets added performance goodies like bigger brakes, improved suspension, and a unique exhaust setup.
Every V60 comes standard with a reversing camera, oncoming-lane mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, and rain-sensing wipers. Options include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear automatic braking. Neither the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has evaluated the current V60.
The Volvo V60 offers plenty of space and the latest tech features.

I like the features the Volvo V60 Momentum offers, simple but effective. The car felt more spacious than it looks especially for the smaller of the two wagons. It had plenty of power and was doing 80 mph before I knew it. The cabin were very comfortable and the seats even more so. it was pretty quiet and the ride quality was quite good. the stereo was quite good too! Over all I am very pleased!

Drives great with a minimum of issues over our almost 3 years/32000 miles of ownership. Control screen does take 10-15 seconds to boot up which has been covered already by many. Not a huge deal but there must be a faster option… Overall been very satisfied.

How much does the 2020 Volvo V60 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $22,465 |
| Year-Round Low | $22,465 |
| Year-Round High | $26,021 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $25,146 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.66% |
Prices have softened 10.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 68 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2020 Volvo V60 a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Volvo V60 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spaciousness, comfort, and design, and many also like the power and driving experience. The overall impression is of a stylish, enjoyable wagon that leaves a positive impression with shoppers. With 36.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Volvo V60 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on comfort, design, and an enjoyable driving experience. A few owners mention minor annoyances, including slow boot-up time for the control screen, but those comments do not dominate the overall feedback. For used buyers, that suggests the bigger ownership risk is less about broad reliability concerns and more about checking individual vehicle condition carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Volvo V60?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on every listing you consider, even if the market looks clean overall. Put inspection priority on the condition of the interior electronics and the control screen, since owner feedback mentions slow boot-up time. It also makes sense to focus on overall wear, maintenance records, and how the car feels on a test drive, because those details matter most in a used luxury wagon.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Volvo V60?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.
- Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 68 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.66% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 85.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,465, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Volvo V60's resale value?
The current average of $22,465 sits slightly below last year's $25,146.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point today. For a future seller, it means resale value may depend heavily on how well you preserve condition and documentation. A clean history and strong presentation matter more when the broader market has softened.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Volvo V60 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.66% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- It stays relatively fresh and unchanged while keeping the V60’s premium feel.
The bottom line: The 2020 is the better primary target if you want a lower average price and a market with decent deal availability. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2020 also gives you a good chance to find value without giving up the V60’s core appeal. If you want the newer-year option, the 2021 makes sense when you prefer a fresher model-year position and are willing to pay more for it.
