Used 2020 Subaru WRX STI for Sale nearManassas, VA

How much does the 2020 Subaru WRX STI cost?

Prices have softened 2.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 380 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru WRX STI earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It comes across as a rally-inspired performance sedan with standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged engine, and an available manual transmission, so it fits you best if you want an enthusiast-focused car rather than a tech leader. The trade-offs are clear: the cabin and feature set feel dated, and the technology is behind newer rivals.

The market still shows 32.6% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The STI’s appeal is reinforced by its straightforward performance hardware and its reputation for being built around driving enjoyment rather than complexity. The interior is described as fairly Spartan, which can work in your favor if you want a cabin that seems likely to hold up to long-term abuse.

Its performance-focused setup and dated tech mean you should pay close attention to wear, modifications, and maintenance history before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru WRX STI?

At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on overall condition, signs of abuse, and whether the car’s performance hardware has been maintained properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The STI’s styling is more aggressive than the base WRX, with unique bodywork, a large rear wing, and a more performance-focused interior. The Series.White adds model-specific paint, wheels, brake calipers, badging, and grille details, plus upgraded hardware.
• Powertrain: The STI uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer-four with 310 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, paired only with a six-speed manual. Its AWD system includes torque vectoring and Subaru’s Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential.
• Safety package: The STI gets a five-star overall NHTSA rating, but it does not get EyeSight driver-assistance tech. That means features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist are not available with the manual transmission.
• Infotainment: You get a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio compatibility, and two USB ports. The system is functional, but the screen is small and the menus are text-heavy.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings are 19 mpg combined, 16 mpg city, and 22 mpg highway.

Which 2020 Subaru WRX STI trim should I buy?

The 2020 Subaru WRX STI is offered in 2 trim levels: WRX STI and WRX STI Limited.

Here's the short version:

• WRX STI: This is the one to start with if you want the core STI experience at the lower entry price. You still get the turbocharged engine, six-speed manual, standard AWD, and the car’s rally-bred personality, but the cabin and tech are still basic.
• WRX STI Limited: This is the better choice if you want more comfort and a more upscale feel without losing the STI’s performance character. It starts at a higher price, so it makes the most sense if you value the added creature comforts.

The safety package note is important here: EyeSight is not available on manual-transmission STI models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru WRX STI?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 380 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,499, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI's resale value?

The current average of $30,048 sits slightly below last year's $30,952.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. If you plan to resell later, the softer current pricing may limit near-term appreciation, but it also means your entry point is more reasonable than it was a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI safe?

The 2020 Subaru WRX STI earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, with five stars in all crash tests except the driver’s side frontal test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The STI does not get EyeSight driver-assistance tech, so you do not get forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, or lane-keep assist. That absence matters if you want modern active safety features in a manual-transmission performance sedan.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru WRX STI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the STI’s rally-inspired, manual-transmission performance focus intact.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $33,079, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $30,048 average.
• It adds a more focused, lifestyle-oriented performance feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it delivers the STI formula at a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a newer nearby year, the 2021 is the secondary path, but the 2020 already gives you the core performance experience without the higher asking price.
