How much does the 2020 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 4.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,268 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.83/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design, and many say it delivers strong value compared with rivals. That fits especially well if you want a compact SUV focused on comfort, safety, and everyday usefulness rather than sporty driving. With 37.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers highlighting its reliability and value over time. That matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for daily driving and family duty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up hidden wear from prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report so you can confirm accident status, title history, and any major insurance claims. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, tires, brakes, and cabin condition, since those areas can reveal how the vehicle was treated. Because this model is often chosen for comfort and daily practicality, pay close attention to signs of interior wear, road-noise complaints, and overall maintenance quality.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,268 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,405, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $20,878 sits slightly below last year's $21,838.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if prices keep easing. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter even more because buyers will have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,790, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,878 average.
• It emphasizes standard AWD, passenger space, and easy everyday livability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,954, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,878 average.
• It adds a few standard safety and convenience upgrades.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the best all-around pick if you want strong owner satisfaction, a broad listing pool, and a softer price trend. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value path; if you want a few extra standard features and can pay more, the 2021 is the upgrade route.
