Is the 2020 RAM 3500 a good car?

Is the 2020 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable for the kind of work it is built to do, and the review summary highlights strong performance along with satisfaction that tends to come from trouble-free ownership when the truck is maintained properly. At the same time, some owners mention specific mechanical concerns, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers depends heavily on maintenance history and how the truck was used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 RAM 3500?

At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the truck has had any collision damage, major repairs, or repeated service visits. Put inspection priority on mechanical condition, especially signs of expensive diesel-related maintenance, and make sure the truck’s overall condition matches its asking price and intended use. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, you should also focus on how it was used and whether it shows wear consistent with towing or hard work.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 RAM 3500?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 898 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,569, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $44,569 sits slightly below last year's $50,775.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the key question is whether the truck holds demand well enough to offset that softer pricing environment. Strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment should matter more if you want to protect value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval and a market that currently favors careful shoppers, the 2020 is the primary year to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, you can also compare nearby years, but the 2020 stands out as the safer balance of satisfaction, availability, and current pricing.
