Used 2020 Nissan Sentra for Sale nearBuffalo, NY

How much does the 2020 Nissan Sentra cost?

Prices have softened 3.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,910 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Nissan Sentra earns a 4.75/5 from owners and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its beautiful design, smooth ride, excellent fuel economy, and useful gadgets. The expert review also highlights its upscale styling and strong value proposition, while noting that the Sentra feels more refined than its price suggests.

The main trade-off is performance: acceleration is fairly pedestrian, and the engine response is not especially lively. In practical terms, that makes the Sentra a better fit if you want a stylish, efficient commuter than if you want something sporty.

With 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience overall, with praise for the car’s long-term value, fuel economy, and everyday usability. The expert review also describes the Sentra as smooth and responsive in normal driving, with engine noise and vibration kept mostly at bay.

The cost-effectiveness review adds that the Sentra delivers strong value for the money, which can help reduce ownership regret over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about whether the car’s modest powertrain and equipment level match your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Nissan Sentra?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in any prior collision. Focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since condition matters more when you’re shopping among similarly priced compact sedans.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SV adds a more upscale feel than the base car, with larger screens, dual-zone climate control, proximity-entry key, adaptive cruise control, remote engine start, and standard smartphone integration; the SV Premium Package adds 17-inch wheels and quilted tan leather, while the SR brings 18-inch wheels, fog lights, and available bright LED headlights.
• Powertrain: A 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque is paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive; it is smooth and responsive, but acceleration tapers off after 30 mph.
• Safety package: Nissan’s standard driver-assistance suite includes forward and reverse emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, auto high beams, and a driver attention monitor; rear side airbags and knee airbags are also standard.
• Infotainment: The mid-level SV includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, WiFi, two more USB ports including USB-C, and larger screens; navigation and wireless charging are not offered.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings are 29 mpg city, 39 highway, and 33 combined, while the SR returns 1 mpg less in the city and combined and 2 less on the highway.

Which 2020 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2020 Nissan Sentra is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but the Sentra’s value story is stronger once you move up to the SV, where the cabin and tech feel more complete.
• SV: This is the best-value trim. It adds the features most shoppers will notice every day, including standard smartphone integration, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, remote start, and the larger screens.
• SR: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance and the most upscale look, with 18-inch wheels, fog lights, and available bright LED headlights.

Nissan’s standard safety package is a major strength across the lineup, so even the lower trims are well covered on driver assistance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Nissan Sentra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,910 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,097, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $14,809 sits slightly below last year's $15,332.

That softer pricing suggests the Sentra has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a lower entry price, which can help cushion depreciation later.

The Sentra’s strong value proposition and broad appeal should help it remain easy to shop in the used market. Its owner satisfaction also supports demand, especially among buyers who want style, efficiency, and standard safety features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2020 Nissan Sentra has not been crash-tested by either NHTSA or IIHS, but CarGurus expects top ratings in all categories.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan makes safety a clear priority here. Standard equipment includes forward and reverse emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, auto high beams, rear side airbags, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, and a driver attention monitor.

A key strength is that this safety suite is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up to a higher trim to get the core driver-assistance features.

Should I buy a 2020 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 brings major upgrades in style, technology, and driving dynamics.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,273, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $14,809 average.
• It feels like a smart choice rather than a compromise.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the stronger buy because it combines lower pricing with the redesign’s major gains in style, safety, and tech. If you are willing to pay more for a slightly newer model year, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative, but the 2020 already captures the core improvements that make this generation appealing.
