How much does the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB cost?

Prices have softened 11.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 553 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB earns a 4.1/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its great design, premium features, and versatility, and many also like its comfortable size. The GLB’s practical packaging and thoughtful details line up well with its role as a small luxury SUV that prioritizes utility over flash.

The trade-offs are that the ride can feel a bit rough and some interior materials draw criticism. The GLB also asks you to pay more for features you may want, so it fits best if you value everyday usefulness and premium feel more than bargain pricing. Good and great deals account for 34.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB reliable?

Owners rate it 4.1/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to a vehicle they can count on for premium-feeling daily use, with praise centered on its versatility, comfortable size, and overall design. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the GLB’s advanced driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems operate with accuracy and refinement, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership.

The GLB also includes free emergency call service for as long as you own it, which is a useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-option examples can be expensive to keep up if you want the nicer equipment and features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the ride quality, brake condition, and interior wear, since those are the areas most likely to affect your satisfaction. It also makes sense to compare feature content closely, because some desirable equipment is tied to packages rather than standard equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLB 250 is the core trim, and the available 4Matic version adds all-wheel drive. Base versions use standard 7-inch infotainment and instrumentation screens, while the Premium Package upgrades to twin 10.25-inch displays and adds blind-spot warning, keyless entry, and engine start.
• Powertrain: The GLB uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4Matic all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a driver monitoring system, backup camera, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and Pre-Safe front collision preparation. The optional Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, evasive steering assistance, automatic emergency stop assistance, and additional Pre-Safe enhancements.
• Infotainment: The GLB includes MBUX infotainment with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and natural voice recognition. The Premium Package upgrades the screens to twin 10.25-inch displays, and the Multimedia Package adds navigation with augmented video.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive recorded 21.4 mpg on a testing loop, versus an expected 26-mpg EPA estimate.

Which 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB trim should I buy?

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB is offered in 2 trim levels: GLB 250 and GLB 250 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• GLB 250: This is the entry point and the best fit if you want the GLB’s core strengths at the lowest price. You still get the practical cabin, strong technology, and the same turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, but you’ll want to budget for the Premium Package if you care about the larger screens and added convenience features.
• GLB 250 4Matic: Choose this if you want all-wheel drive and the added traction that comes with it. It keeps the GLB’s useful, premium character intact while adding the 4Matic system for buyers who expect to drive in less forgiving conditions.

The optional Driver Assistance Package is the key safety-package upgrade to look for if you want the most advanced driver aids.

The current average of $20,162 sits slightly below last year's $22,883.

That decline suggests the GLB has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well now, you may be entering at a more favorable point in the cycle than someone who purchased earlier. The GLB’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among shoppers who want a practical luxury SUV with a premium badge.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The optional Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, evasive steering assistance, and automatic emergency stop assistance, along with additional Pre-Safe enhancements.

You should pay close attention to whether a used example has the Driver Assistance Package, because that package carries most of the GLB’s advanced safety tech.

Should I buy a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 GLB stands out for its practical, utility-first design and strong technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,791, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,162 average.
• It adds an optional third row for seven-passenger seating.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid inventory. If you need extra seating flexibility and can spend more, the 2021 is the better fit.
