At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Focus on overall condition, repair quality, and signs of inconsistent wear so you can avoid paying too much for a car with hidden issues.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also suggests resale upside may be more measured than in a rising market. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is buying well now and keeping the car in strong condition. A clean history and good maintenance records should help you preserve more of its value when it is time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda MAZDA6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,552, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,777 average.
• It adds a more stylish, higher-quality feel with premium materials and a more athletic driving character.

The 2020 is the better primary choice if you want strong owner satisfaction and a lower entry price. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer-feeling cabin and a more polished driving experience, the 2021 is the better secondary path.
