That kind of praise matters if you want a used luxury SUV that should be easier to live with after purchase. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about the condition of the specific example you choose.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus NX?

At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and evidence of consistent maintenance so you can separate a well-kept NX from one that has been neglected.

What is the 2020 Lexus NX's resale value?

The current average of $26,851 sits slightly below last year's $27,358.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now and may also shape future resale expectations. If you purchase at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation pain later. The NX’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Lexus NX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,575, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,851 average.
• It adds a more refined-feeling cabin and sharper everyday appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because pricing has eased and owner satisfaction is high. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and a slightly more polished overall package, the 2021 is the secondary path to consider.
