Used 2020 Lexus GX for Sale nearHoltsville, NY

How much does the 2020 Lexus GX cost?

Prices have softened 5.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 800 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Lexus GX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Lexus GX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its robust build, off-road capabilities, and luxurious interior, and many also like the ride quality and reliability, especially at higher mileage. The trade-offs are clear: poor gas mileage is a common complaint, and the SUV’s outdated technology and uninspired styling are recurring drawbacks.

For you, that means the GX makes the most sense if you value a comfortable, capable luxury SUV more than modern tech or fresh design. It fits especially well if your driving includes rough roads, bad weather, or weekend trips beyond pavement. Good and great deals account for 39.3% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, a robust build, and trouble-free ownership even after high mileage. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the GX’s durable, truck-like character and its ability to handle demanding use without feeling fragile. On the cost side, the model’s straightforward mechanical setup and strong capability help reinforce its dependable reputation.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about living with an older design that can feel dated over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus GX?

At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this model is valued for comfort and capability, condition matters a lot: pay close attention to how the cabin, suspension, and electronics have aged. If you are comparing multiple listings, favor the cleanest example over the cheapest one.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 460 is the most straightforward choice because it already includes 10-way power front seats, leather upholstery, push-button start, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The Premium adds rain-sensing windshield wipers, 3-zone automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, wood and aluminum cabin accents, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and navigation with apps such as Yelp and iHeartRadio. The Luxury adds premium leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, self-leveling air suspension, and power-folding/reclining third-row seats. CarGurus recommends the base 460 trim as the best value.
• Powertrain: The GX 460 uses a 4.6-liter V8 with 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard 4WD. The setup is built for real-world strength and off-pavement confidence rather than modern efficiency.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ is standard and includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is also standard, and the available surround-view camera adds extra visibility.
• Infotainment: The GX uses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but the layout is simple and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX returns 15 mpg city, 19 highway, and 16 combined.

Which 2020 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Lexus GX is offered in 3 trim levels: 460, 460 Premium, and 460 Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• 460: This is the best-value choice because it already comes well equipped with leather upholstery, power front seats, a sunroof, push-button start, automatic climate control, and the 8-inch touchscreen. It gives you the core GX experience without paying for extras you may not need.
• 460 Premium: This trim is the smart step up if you want more comfort and convenience, including heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and parking sensors. It is the better pick if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• 460 Luxury: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused GX, with premium leather, a heated steering wheel, self-leveling air suspension, and power-folding/reclining third-row seats. It suits buyers who want the most refined version of the GX and are willing to pay for it.

Lexus Safety System+ is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring is included as well.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lexus GX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 800 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,311, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $37,311 sits slightly below last year's $39,491.

That softer pricing suggests the GX is in a buyer-friendly phase right now, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right entry point. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure later. The model’s strong reputation for satisfaction and durability should help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Lexus GX safe?

The 2020 Lexus GX earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is also standard, and the available surround-view camera can make parking and low-speed maneuvering easier. Visibility is another strength, thanks to the high seating position and large windows and mirrors.

Should I buy a 2020 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 update adds fresh styling while preserving the GX’s rugged, off-road-focused identity.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $41,619, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $37,311 average.
• It adds a Premium Plus Package and acoustic front side glass.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the stronger buy because it delivers the GX formula at a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model-year update, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative for shoppers who want the latest small refinements.
