At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

What is the 2020 Kia Optima's resale value?

The current average of $12,751 sits slightly below last year's $14,378.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future buyers but may limit upside for a seller in the near term. If you buy at a competitive price and keep the car in strong condition, you can improve your chances of holding value better than average. Market demand should remain steadier for examples that present well and have clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Kia Optima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $11,726, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $12,751 average.
• It offers a stylish, well-equipped, value-focused package with a roomy interior.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If you're more price-sensitive, the 2019 is the better path when you want to spend less upfront and still get a well-rounded midsize sedan.
