How much does the 2020 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 12.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,085 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and equipment.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the rugged design, off-road capability, and the comfort and modern features that make daily use easier, including heated seats. The review summary also points to the Wrangler’s distinctive character and strong appeal for buyers who want something that feels unmistakably Jeep.

The main trade-offs are the lack of some convenience features such as adaptive cruise control, along with fuel economy and noise levels. That fits the Wrangler’s use case well: it’s aimed at buyers who value trail ability and personality more than quiet, efficient commuting.

Good and great deals account for 37.9% of listings, so you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they value its ruggedness and capability. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Wrangler is built around a clear purpose and can handle demanding off-road use, which supports the idea that it’s a vehicle you can count on when you want trail-ready durability.

The diesel option adds torque and broadens the powertrain lineup, but it also comes with a higher upfront cost and fuel-type considerations that matter over the long haul. For used buyers, the biggest ownership risk is not whether it can do the job, but whether the previous owner used and maintained it in a way that matches its hard-use reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has seen trail use or heavy modification. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear from off-road driving, and whether the equipment level matches how you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is very bare-bones, with manual windows and locks, a 5-inch touchscreen, and little else, while the Sport S adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. The Sahara is the most upscale trim, with body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, and more comfort-oriented equipment, while the Rubicon adds a lifted off-road suspension and mud-terrain tires for more serious trail use.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and there’s also a turbocharged 4-cylinder with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft. The new 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel makes 260 hp and 442 lb-ft, giving you the strongest low-speed torque and a notable efficiency improvement over the gas turbo.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.
• Infotainment: The Sport and Sport S use a 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The Sport S can be upgraded to a 7-inch system with Uconnect, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and the Sahara and Rubicon come standard with that 7-inch setup; an available 8.4-inch Uconnect system adds navigation, HD Radio, real-time traffic and weather, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The most efficient gas version returns 21 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down version, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add very little. It’s the least expensive way into the Wrangler Unlimited, but the lack of basic convenience features makes it a tough daily-driver choice.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. It also opens the door to the Technology Package and Cold Weather Group, which make the Wrangler much easier to live with.
• Sahara: This is the comfort-leaning choice, with body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, and standard 7-inch infotainment. If you want a more upscale Wrangler with more available luxury and convenience features, this is the one to target.
• Rubicon: This is the trail-focused choice, with a lifted off-road suspension, mud-terrain tires, and the most serious mechanical upgrades. It’s the right pick if off-road capability matters more to you than everyday comfort.

The base safety package and Advanced Safety Group are worth considering on any trim, especially if you want blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,085 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,142, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $25,142 sits slightly below last year's $28,823.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Wrangler still has strong appeal, but pricing pressure means you should expect the market to reward clean condition, desirable equipment, and well-kept examples more than average ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The available base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.

The main caveat is that some of the most helpful driver-assistance features are not standard, so you should check carefully for the right package on any used example. That matters especially in a vehicle with awkward sightlines and a trail-first design.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds a new diesel engine that brings stronger torque and broadens the powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,572, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,142 average.
• It adds a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and a Hemi V8 for four-door buyers.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for broader powertrain choice, the 2021 is the better path for shoppers who want the newest options and don’t mind paying extra.
