How much does the 2020 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 13.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,056 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the rugged design, off-road capability, and comfort touches like heated seats and modern features. The Wrangler also stands out for its unmistakable identity and broad powertrain choice, including a new diesel engine for 2020.

The main trade-offs are fuel economy and noise, and the expert review also notes that the Wrangler rides like a truck and can feel rough compared with car-based SUVs. That makes it a better fit if you value trail ability and character over everyday refinement.

Good and great deals account for 35.9% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people trust for rugged use, with praise centered on its durable-feeling design and off-road capability. The expert review also emphasizes that the Wrangler is built for going off the beaten path and experiencing the world, which reinforces its purpose-built character.

Jeep also notes that the diesel engine adds extra torque and a distinctive sound, while the review highlights that it can improve fuel economy versus the most efficient gas setup. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Wrangler’s ruggedness comes with compromises in efficiency and everyday comfort.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any Wrangler you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a close inspection of the suspension, tires, and interior wear, since this model is often used in ways that can accelerate damage. Focus on condition and equipment level, because the base versions are intentionally sparse and some desirable features are tied to packages or higher trims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is very bare-bones, with a 5-inch touchscreen, eight speakers, manual windows and locks, and little else. The Sport S is the better everyday choice because it adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry, while the Sahara brings a more upscale feel with body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, and bigger brakes. The Rubicon is the most trail-focused version, with a lifted off-road suspension and big mud-terrain tires.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and a 6-speed manual, and there is also a turbocharged 4-cylinder and a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is the strongest choice for low-speed torque and hill climbing, but it comes with added cost and lifestyle considerations.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning. Some helpful features are package-dependent, so check carefully.
• Infotainment: The Sport and Sport S use a basic 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The 7-inch Uconnect system adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the available 8.4-inch system adds navigation, HD Radio, real-time traffic and weather updates, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and an Alpine premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The most efficient gas-powered version returns 21 mpg city, 22 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down version, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and do not mind manual windows, manual locks, and the basic 5-inch touchscreen.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the everyday conveniences you’ll actually notice, including power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry.
• Sahara: This is the more upscale choice if you want a nicer-feeling Wrangler, with body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, and access to more comfort and tech options.
• Rubicon: This is the one to buy if trail use is your priority, since it brings the most serious off-road hardware and a more aggressive stance.

The safety packages are worth considering on any trim, especially because the base setup leaves out several useful driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,056 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,517, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $24,517 sits slightly below last year's $28,264.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment rather than just model-year desirability.

Wranglers tend to draw steady interest because of their strong owner satisfaction and distinctive appeal. Well-kept examples with desirable features should remain easier to move than stripped or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.

A key caveat is that several helpful driver-assistance features are not standard, so you should check the exact package content on any used listing. The Wrangler’s awkward sightlines also make the available parking and blind-spot aids especially valuable.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds a new diesel engine that brings stronger torque and better fuel economy than the most efficient gas setup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $26,806, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $24,517 average.
• It adds a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and a Hemi V8.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices are lower and inventory is broad. If you want the newest powertrain choices and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is the more distinctive alternative.
