The INFINITI Q50, a compact luxury sport sedan, gets some changes for 2020. It competes with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Genesis G70, and Lexus IS. Infiniti axed the Q50’s 4-cylinder engine for 2020. That means the base engine is now the brand’s 3.0t package, a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that makes 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. If that’s not fast enough for you, Infiniti offers that same engine in a flavor that puts out 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Both engines pair with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes standard while all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. The Q50's fuel-economy ratings are as high as 20 mpg city, 29 highway, and 23 combined on premium fuel. The Q50 spreads its options between Pure, Luxe, Sport, and Red Sport trims. The latter two share an aggressive body kit and larger front intakes. All trims benefit from a redesigned infotainment system, featuring HD 7-inch lower and 8-inch upper touchscreens. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard and both USB-A and USB-C ports are included. Other standard features include leatherette upholstery, 8-way power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and keyless access and start. Heated seats, Bose premium audio, 19-inch wheels, and semi-aniline leather are among the options. Despite its emphasis on performance, the Q50 does not shirk its safety duties. Infiniti equips every unit with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams are also available. The Q50 received good marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in 2019.
