How much does the 2020 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 7.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,604 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Pilots to compare.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.7/5, and the expert rating is 8.00/10. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, comfortable ride, responsive handling, performance, and fuel efficiency. The Pilot also fits well if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV with an adult-friendly third row and lots of cargo space. The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and cabin materials that feel cheaper than some rivals, and the overview also notes that it no longer separates itself from competitors the way it once did.

With 36.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop carefully and find value.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise for its comfort, fuel efficiency, and overall performance. Reviewers also describe it as a model you can count on for spacious family duty and responsive handling.

The Pilot’s standard V6 and available 9-speed automatic are described as stout and refined, which supports confidence in long-term use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not overworked.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Pilot?

At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings at similar prices. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, interior wear, and whether the tech and controls operate as they should. Because the Pilot is often bought as a family hauler, condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, while the EX adds remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED fog lights, Smart Entry, tri-zone climate control, a 10-way power driver’s seat, and heated front seats. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a power moonroof, second-row in-door sunshades, and a 4-way power front passenger seat. Touring, Elite, and Black Edition trims add more luxury and convenience equipment, with the Elite and Black Edition standing out for a panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and other upscale touches.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. LX, EX, and EX-L use a 6-speed automatic, while Touring, Elite, and Black Edition get a 9-speed automatic that is described as more refined and better for fuel economy.
• Safety package: HondaSensing is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Front and side-impact airbags, child-seat anchors, Vehicle Stability Assist, and traction control are also standard, while parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are optional.
• Infotainment: The LX uses a 5-inch color LCD screen, while other trims get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add HD Radio, SiriusXM, Cabin Control Remote Capability, navigation, rear-seat entertainment, and on Touring, Elite, and Black Edition, a 590-watt, 10-speaker premium audio system and mobile hotspot capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient setup is the FWD 9-speed configuration at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined. AWD with the 9-speed returns 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined. The 6-speed FWD setup returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined, while the 6-speed AWD setup returns 18 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda Pilot is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basics, including 18-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, push-button start, power locks, power windows, Bluetooth, and a USB port. It makes sense if you want the lowest price, but it misses the more useful convenience and tech upgrades found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim. It adds remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED fog lights, Smart Entry, tri-zone climate control, a 10-way power driver’s seat, and heated front seats, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• EX-L: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale family SUV. Leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a power moonroof, second-row sunshades, and a power front passenger seat make it a strong step up in comfort and convenience.
• Touring: This trim adds 20-inch wheels, roof rails, ambient lighting, an upgraded stereo, courtesy approach lights, navigation, rear-seat entertainment, a wall-style power outlet, and the more efficient 9-speed automatic. It suits you if you want a more premium Pilot without going all the way to the top.
• Elite: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with power-folding mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and the 9-speed automatic. It’s the right pick if comfort features matter most.
• Black Edition: This is the range-topper, and it adds blacked-out styling with nearly the same equipment as the Elite. Choose it if you want the most distinctive appearance and don’t mind paying for it.

HondaSensing is standard across the lineup, so you get the core safety suite no matter which trim you choose.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Pilot?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,604 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,874, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $21,874 sits slightly below last year's $23,664.

That softer pricing suggests the Pilot has become more accessible on the used market, which can help you buy in at a lower cost today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should still draw attention, especially because family buyers tend to value space and safety.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda Pilot safe?

The Honda Pilot earns a five-star overall crash test rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The HondaSensing suite is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Front and side-impact airbags, child-seat anchors, Vehicle Stability Assist, and traction control are also standard. Parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are optional.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds the Black Edition and keeps the Pilot’s strong standard safety equipment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,434, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $21,874 average.
• It keeps the Pilot’s practical, family-friendly formula while leaning into everyday usability.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive shoppers should focus on the 2020’s stronger market value.
