Used 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback for Sale nearPittsburgh, PA

How much does the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 5.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 925 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — 4.86/5 owners’ rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.67/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its sporty handling, stylish design, and impressive fuel efficiency, and they also mention improved features and sound insulation over previous models. The Civic Hatchback’s appeal is strongest if you want a small car that feels engaging to drive rather than purely utilitarian.

The main trade-off is outdated technology, and the expert review also notes that the cabin still relies on plenty of hard plastic. Even so, the overview makes clear that this hatchback is aimed at shoppers who value style, driving enjoyment, and efficiency in a compact package.

Good and great deals account for 34.7% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that many people find dependable, with praise centered on its sporty handling, stylish design, and impressive fuel efficiency. It also highlights improved features and sound insulation, which can matter if you want a car that feels settled and easy to live with over time.

The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the engine as quiet, refined, and well mannered, which supports the sense that the car is easy to count on day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability in this data and more about whether the car’s aging technology and feature set will meet your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, paint mismatch, or tire wear. Because the market includes a sizable number of non-clean-history cars, condition should matter as much as mileage and price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX is the most basic version, while Sport Touring adds stitched leather on the steering wheel, soft surfaces, quality materials, and a more premium cabin feel. The base trim also misses the 7-inch touchscreen that appears in all but LX, so feature gaps are most noticeable there.
• Powertrain: The hatchback uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder, with 174 horsepower in LX, EX, and EX-L trims and 180 horsepower in Sport and Sport Touring. The CVT and 6-speed manual also deliver different torque figures, and the manual brings a more involved driving feel.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, Road Departure Mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. CVT-equipped versions also add low-speed following capability, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch touchscreen is standard on all but LX, and Sport Touring adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, text-messaging support, navigation, a quick-charging USB port, and a 12-speaker premium sound system. The system is still described as dated, and the review notes missing voice-recognition polish.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test car returned 32 mpg in combined driving, and the review says the EPA rated it at 32 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable giving up some of the nicer cabin and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
• Sport: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it looks like the test car, costs only a bit more than LX, and adds the more desirable sporty presentation without jumping all the way to the premium end.
• EX: This trim sits in the middle of the lineup and is the logical step if you want more equipment than Sport without going all the way to the leather-lined EX-L.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel of the leather-lined cabin and are willing to pay more for comfort-oriented upgrades.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but the system is described as aging, and the review notes that lane-keeping assist lacks refinement and adaptive cruise control can brake unexpectedly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 925 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,442, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $19,772 sits slightly below last year's $20,990.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, which can also mean future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later because you are starting from a softer market.

The Civic Hatchback’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among shoppers who want a stylish, fun-to-drive compact hatchback. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback safe?

The 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback did not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) due to a Poor performance in the headlight category.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, Road Departure Mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. CVT-equipped versions also get low-speed following capability.

A key caveat is that this version of Honda Sensing is described as aging, with lane-keeping assist lacking refinement and adaptive cruise control braking for no apparent reason during testing. The car also lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, relying instead on LaneWatch for the right-side blind spot only.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 refresh brought revised styling, additional sound insulation, and improved feature packaging.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed 2020 Civic Hatchback with its stronger styling and still-appealing driving character, this is a sensible year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
