How much does the 2020 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 9.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,146 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 GMC Terrain a good car?

Generally — the 2020 GMC Terrain earns a 4.43/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners most often praise its comfort and safety features, along with its spacious interior and economical performance. Many also like the luxurious feel and intuitive entertainment system, especially in the Denali model. For you, that makes it a good fit if you want a compact SUV with a more premium cabin, a comfortable ride, and a useful everyday setup. With 34.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with comfort and safety coming through as recurring strengths. That kind of long-term approval matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for daily driving. For used buyers, the main risk is less about broad reliability concerns and more about finding a well-kept example that matches the condition suggested by its history and mileage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 GMC Terrain?

At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage or other red flags. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for body condition, panel alignment, interior wear, and signs of uneven maintenance. Because this model is often chosen for comfort and everyday use, you’ll want to focus on how well the cabin, ride quality, and overall condition hold up in the specific listing you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,146 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,432, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $17,432 sits slightly below last year's $19,365.

That price movement suggests the Terrain has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. Demand should also be helped by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal in the compact SUV segment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact SUV with a comfortable ride, a polished interior, and strong owner approval, the 2020 Terrain is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced clean example rather than the model year alone.
