How much does the 2020 GMC Acadia cost?

Prices have softened 11.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,726 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia a good car?

Yes — the 2020 GMC Acadia earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its smooth and quiet ride, spacious interior, and impressive features. The upscale Denali trim is especially well liked for its luxurious feel, and the Acadia also gets credit for comfort and design that work well for family trips.

The trade-offs are clear: some drivers want more cargo space and fresher technology updates, and the expert review also points to a fairly pedestrian driving character and value concerns. In practical terms, this is a good fit if you want a comfortable three-row SUV with easy-to-use tech and a more upscale feel than many rivals.

31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a smooth, quiet, and comfortable SUV that many drivers feel good about living with over time. The expert review also describes the Acadia as a fundamentally good SUV with refined road manners and easy-to-use technology, which supports the idea that it should be straightforward to count on for daily use.

GMC also includes your first scheduled maintenance visit at no charge, which helps a little with early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s value, feature content, and maintenance history line up with what you expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 GMC Acadia?

At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because the Acadia’s value proposition depends heavily on condition and equipment, it makes sense to focus on how well the cabin, electronics, and safety features have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Acadia comes in SL, SLE, SLT, new rugged AT4, and luxurious Denali trim levels. The base SL is the most stripped-down choice, while higher trims add more upscale cabin materials and equipment; the Denali stands out for leather upholstery, wood trim, and a more premium presentation.
• Powertrain: Lower trims use a 193-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The SLT gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 230 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque, while AT4 and Denali variants use a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6. All three engines pair with a new nine-speed automatic transmission.
• Safety package: The base Acadia SL and up include blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning. Forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking require SLT or AT4 at minimum, and the Driver Alert Package adds lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, pedestrian braking, parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a head-up display. Enhanced automatic emergency braking is exclusive to Denali.
• Infotainment: Every 2020 Acadia includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and GMC Connected Services with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Versions with an 8-inch touchscreen get a higher-resolution display, a simplified interface, and improved voice recognition. The system also adds USB-C ports, an optional wireless charging pad, a high-definition surround-view camera, and a rear camera mirror.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 21 mpg in combined driving, and the expert review notes that the powertrain includes stop/start and cylinder deactivation to help improve fuel economy.

Which 2020 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2020 GMC Acadia is offered in 5 trim levels: SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Acadia, but you should expect the fewest features and the least premium feel.
• SLE: This trim is the practical step up if you want a better-equipped Acadia without jumping too far in price. It keeps the core family-friendly layout and is a sensible value choice for shoppers who want the basics done well.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and unlocks more of the safety content, including forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking when equipped with the Driver Alert Package.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged personality and the off-road-oriented setup described in the review, including the dual-clutch AWD system and all-terrain tires.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the 310-hp V6, upscale cabin materials, and the most premium presentation in the lineup.

The safety-package gap is important: blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are standard on the base SL and up, but more advanced driver-assistance features require higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Acadia?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,726 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,761, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $19,761 sits slightly below last year's $22,354.

That decline suggests the Acadia has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you buy now and plan to sell later. If prices stabilize, future resale losses may be more gradual than the drop that has already happened.

For a seller, the key takeaway is that condition and equipment matter a lot. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong feature content should be easier to move than higher-mileage or poorly maintained ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia safe?

The 2020 Acadia earns five-star ratings in most NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the SUV high marks in the tests it has completed.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes a rear-seat reminder system, Teen Driver technology, automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning. Forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking require SLT or AT4 at minimum, and the Driver Alert Package adds lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, pedestrian braking, parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a head-up display.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to shop carefully if safety tech matters to you most.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 refresh adds bolder styling, a new AT4 trim, a turbocharged four-cylinder, a nine-speed automatic, and updated technology.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $16,942, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $19,761 average.
• It feels more upscale and distinctive than many other three-row midsize SUVs.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed 2020 Acadia’s updated styling, tech, and trim range, this is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly path.
