overall

Summary
With 9,584 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,122.00, 30.9% of 2020 Ford F-150s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford F-150 4.72 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
78.9% of 2020 F-150 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford F-150 stands out as a full-size pickup that tries to balance everyday comfort with real work capability. It offers an accommodating and modern interior, comfortable road manners, and a lineup of engines that provide the power and torque needed to hold its own at the worksite. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want a truck that can serve as a commuter, family hauler, and tow vehicle without feeling out of place in any of those roles.
It also brings some clear strengths beyond utility. The F-150 boasts outstanding tech and comfort features, and its stylish design helps it feel more polished than a purely work-focused truck. At the same time, it is not perfect: advanced safety features are not standard, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the 2020 Ford F-150 remains distinctive because it delivers broad capability with a cabin and ride quality aimed at making daily use easier.

Reviewed a 2020 Ford F-150 on Oct 22, 2025
The 2020 Raptor gets almost everything right — performance, comfort, design, and capability. It’s not just a truck; it’s an experience. Every time I drive it, it reminds me why this model has such a loyal following. ⸻ What I Think of Its Features The twin-turbo 3.5 L EcoBoost engine delivers incredible power and torque, and the 10-speed transmission keeps it smooth whether you’re cruising the highway or tearing up dirt roads. The suspension is what truly sets it apart — it absorbs rough terrain like it’s nothing, but somehow still rides comfortably on pavement. Inside, it’s spacious, refined, and well-equipped. The technology and controls are intuitive, and even though it’s built for off-road performance, it doesn’t sacrifice daily comfort. It feels just as confident on a long trip as it does on a back trail. ⸻ Is It a Good Value? Yes — for the right driver. You’re paying for both capability and character. If you’ll actually use what it was built for — adventure, off-road travel, or simply having the most capable full-size truck on the road — then it’s worth every dollar. Of course, if you’re buying it just for city commuting, the value depends on how much you want the performance and presence. Fuel economy and tire wear are part of the trade-off, but the Raptor delivers something few trucks can: it makes driving fun again. ⸻ What It’s Missing No vehicle is perfect. The Raptor’s towing capacity isn’t as high as some other F-150 models, and it’s definitely a large truck to maneuver in tight parking lots. It also drinks more fuel than your average pickup, and parts like the suspension or tires cost more to replace. But for me, those drawbacks are minor compared to what it offers in power, confidence, and enjoyment. ⸻ What I’d Compare It To If you want to compare, the Ram 1500 TRX is the closest rival — louder, heavier, and a bit wilder. The Raptor, though, strikes a better balance between power and everyday drivability. I’d also compare it to the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss or GMC AT4 for someone who wants off-road ability without going full performance truck. ⸻ Overall The 2020 Raptor is one of those rare trucks that feels alive. It’s strong, capable, and surprisingly refined. Whether you’re driving across the country or exploring back roads, it’s a truck that makes you want to keep going. That’s why I gave it a perfect 5-star rating.

The picture is deceiving. It’s actually missing driver side running board. And the inside was very dirty. Back head rest was also missing.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 4.72/5, and the expert rating is 8.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort. The engine lineup also gets repeated approval, especially the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 options. In practical terms, that lines up well with a truck that’s meant to handle commuting, towing, and family duty without feeling out of place in any one role.
The main trade-offs are a cabin that can feel cheap in places and some missing convenience features, including extra USB ports and power seats. Even so, the overall package fits buyers who want a versatile full-size truck with strong capability and everyday usability. Good and great deals account for 31.3% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.72/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners describe it as dependable and trouble-free, with strong confidence in its long-term usefulness. The expert evaluation also points to a durable, work-ready character, and the cabin is described as built to take a beating. The available first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about core toughness and more about finding a truck that was maintained well and not overworked.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-150?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on every truck you consider, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re looking at higher-mileage examples or trucks that were likely used for towing. Focus on wear items, cabin condition, and whether the truck’s equipment matches how you plan to use it.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The XL is the work-truck baseline, with steel wheels, manual locks, air conditioning, and a 2.3-inch driver information display. It also includes standard forward automatic emergency braking, while the XLT adds SYNC 3, a WiFi hotspot, chrome exterior touches, and more convenience features.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 horsepower on XL and XLT, plus available 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 5.0-liter V8, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 options. The lineup ranges from efficient daily use to serious towing and hauling, with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost delivering the most power.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Some of these features are available or standard only on higher trims, so base-trim shoppers should check equipment carefully.
- Infotainment: The XL’s basic stereo is simple, while optional SYNC adds a touchscreen, USB ports, and voice recognition. XLT and above get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, enhanced voice recognition, pinch-to-zoom map controls, and smart-charging USB ports.
- Fuel efficiency: The turbodiesel with rear-wheel drive returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, 24 combined. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 20 mpg city, 26 highway, 22 combined, while the V8 returns 17 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined. The Raptor is the least efficient at 15 mpg city, 18 highway, 16 combined.
Which 2020 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The XL is the bare-bones work truck, so you give up much of the convenience and comfort equipment found higher up the range. It still includes standard forward automatic emergency braking, but the cabin is basic and the feature set is sparse.
- Sweet-spot trim: The XLT is the best value for most shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, a WiFi hotspot, cruise control, and more polished exterior details without jumping into luxury pricing.
- Premium/top trim: The Lariat is the strongest step-up if you want comfort without going all the way to luxury pricing. It adds leather-trimmed seats, dual-zone climate control, push-button start, and power heated and cooled front seats.
- Off-road trim: The Raptor is the clear specialty choice, but its off-road hardware and lower fuel efficiency make it less appealing for typical daily driving.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is available or standard on higher trims, so check each truck’s equipment list before you buy.

If you find a listing below $28,531.02, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?
The current average of $29,122 sits slightly below last year's $30,794.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have less depreciation pressure than someone who paid closer to the prior average. Trucks with broad appeal and strong capability tend to stay easier to resell, especially when they’re equipped with desirable engines and popular comfort features.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 safe?
The SuperCrew trucks received five-star ratings from NHTSA, while the SuperCab and regular cab earned four-star ratings. The SuperCrew also received top marks from IIHS in its various crash tests.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 brings automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Standard safety equipment also includes front- and side-impact airbags, curve control, tire-pressure monitoring, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, rain-sensing headlights, an anti-theft system, and SOS post-crash alert.
The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should confirm exactly which driver-assistance items are included on the truck you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.43% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It offers a broad engine lineup, strong towing capability, and a comfortable, modern cabin.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $26,783, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $29,122 average.
- It emphasizes strong performance and versatility with a spacious, well-equipped cabin.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $33,675, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,122 average.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2020 if you want a strong mix of capability, comfort, and current-market value. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better budget play. If you want the newer redesign and can stretch your budget, the 2021 is the upgrade path to consider.
