CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 2,506 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,109.00, 30.1% of 2020 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford Edge 4.63 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
77.4% of 2020 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford Edge is a midsize two-row SUV that stands out less for flash than for being a straightforward, well-equipped choice. Its design is showing signs of age, and the styling is uninspired, but it makes up for that with plenty of standard tech and safety features. It also offers easy-to-use technology, which helps give it broader appeal for shoppers who want something familiar and simple to live with.
What makes the 2020 Ford Edge distinctive is that it stays relevant through equipment rather than drama. Ford keeps it fitted with the latest infotainment and safety technology, and the lineup includes a performance variant called the Edge ST. That gives it an extra layer of interest in a segment where many rivals are more conventional. At the same time, the Edge is getting long in the tooth and its base engine is underwhelming, so it is best suited to buyers who value comfort, space, and useful features over standout driving excitement or bold design.

I was impressed with the features of the Ford Edge SE (i.e. backup camera, lane assist, multiple airbags, roominess, etc.) I was also impressed with the comfort of the seats and the comfort of the ride on rougher paved roads. Compared to my 2019 Ford Escape Titanium, I have only found two negatives: 1. Remote start is not on the keyfob but only available through the phone app 2. Manual liftgate instead of the power liftgate

This car has all the bells and whistles. Lane assist, auto headlights and whipers, wireless charging pad, number pad entry so you can leave your car running but locked, hands free lift gate sun and moon roof. The list goes on.

It is the best vehicle in its class for the money. I would compare this to an Audi SQ5, Mercedes AMG GL class, Mazda CX-5, Chevrolet Blazer, Genesis GV70 and many others.

2020 Ford Edge Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2020 Ford Edge prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2020 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,074 |
| Year-Round Low | $16,716.59 |
| Year-Round High | $18,717.75 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $18,717 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.78% |
Prices have softened 8.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,546 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $16,716.59, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Ford Edge earns a 4.63/5 user rating, and its expert rating is 8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious cabin, and modern features. The roomy interior also comes through as a strong fit for tall drivers and families, and many owners describe the build quality as solid.
The main trade-offs are its uninspired styling and underwhelming base engine. That said, the Edge’s straightforward layout and easy-to-use tech make it a sensible choice if you want a familiar two-row SUV rather than something flashy.
With its midsize two-row layout and emphasis on comfort, space, and useful features, it fits best if you value everyday practicality over standout driving excitement. Good and great deals account for 31.6% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.63/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels solid, comfortable, and dependable over time, with many drivers highlighting the roomy cabin and overall build quality. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that Ford keeps the Edge equipped with useful technology and a well-rounded feature set, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership.
The Edge also includes a maintenance perk in the form of five years of pre-paid SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link service with the available navigation system. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that technical issues and age-related wear can matter more than the basic design suggests, so condition matters a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the transmission, electronics, and any signs of uneven wear. It also helps to compare trim condition closely, since feature content changes meaningfully as you move up the lineup.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE starts with a 10-way power driver’s seat, satellite radio, a WiFi hotspot, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, dual-zone climate control, and Ford Co-Pilot360. The SEL adds LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a six-way power front passenger seat, a premium audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Titanium adds 19-inch wheels, genuine leather upholstery, a 10-way power front passenger seat, driver’s seat memory, a power outlet, remote start, wireless charging, and a premium sound system. The ST adds a more powerful engine, standard AWD, and sportier styling.
- Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, with front-wheel drive or available AWD through an eight-speed automatic. It delivers solid low-end acceleration, but it can feel short on power at higher speeds. The ST uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, standard AWD, and an eight-speed automatic.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on every trim and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on the SEL and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go traffic capability plus active lane centering.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and Amazon Alexa. Voice-activated navigation with pinch-to-zoom is optional on the SEL and ST and standard on the Titanium. A semi-digital instrument panel is available on the SEL and ST and standard on the Titanium.
- Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter FWD model returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, 24 combined. The AWD version returns 21 mpg city, 28 highway, 23 combined. The ST returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined.
Which 2020 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE is the value starting point, but it lacks the upgraded comfort and luxury touches found higher up the range. If you want the essentials plus standard safety and easy-to-use tech, it covers the basics well.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best balance of price and equipment. It adds heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a premium audio system, and the option for Co-Pilot360 Assist+.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium is the most polished everyday choice, with genuine leather, remote start, wireless charging, a stronger audio system, and standard navigation.
- Off-road trim: The ST is the performance-focused choice, not the best fit if you mainly want a calm daily driver.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard across the lineup, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on the SEL.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Edge?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep distress pricing.
- Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,546 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.78% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 77.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,716.59, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $17,074 sits slightly below last year's $18,717.
That price movement suggests the Edge has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you pay close to the current average, your downside is more manageable than it would be when prices are still climbing. Strong equipment and broad appeal can also help keep demand steady when you eventually sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.63/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge safe?
The 2020 Ford Edge received a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on every trim and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. If you move up to the SEL, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and active lane centering.
The main caveat is that headlight performance varies by trim level, so it is worth checking the specific vehicle’s equipment and condition before you buy.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.78% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.63/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech with easy-to-use SYNC 3 and a performance-oriented ST option.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $15,479, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $17,074 average.
- It offers practical cabin space and a useful family-hauling layout.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $19,519, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,074 average.
- It adds a broader trim lineup with ST-Line and more updated tech options.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, safety, and everyday usability, the 2020 is the strongest all-around pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 can save you money, while the 2021 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling setup.
