How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 8.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,079 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 4.58/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the smooth ride, attractive design, and good gas mileage, and many also call out the value for money and comfortable interior. That fits the Malibu’s role as a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with a comfortable cabin and straightforward tech. With 28.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.58/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the car’s smooth ride and comfort over time. The repeated praise for value and everyday livability suggests this is the kind of sedan many owners feel confident keeping for the long haul.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s basic appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the car has any accident history or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the cabin, tires, brakes, and suspension show wear that matches the mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,079 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,480, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $13,480 sits slightly below last year's $14,762.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened in the used market, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is documented and maintained. A clean history and strong presentation matter more when the market is already pricing the model conservatively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan and you can verify that the specific car has a clean history and solid maintenance. If you’re especially price-sensitive, nearby model years may also be worth comparing, but the 2020 is a sensible primary target when you want a modern-feeling Malibu with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price.
