How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 9.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,960 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its smooth ride, attractive design, and good gas mileage, and many also call out its value for money and comfortable interior. That lines up well with its role as a roomy midsize sedan for shoppers who want practical family transportation without paying a premium. With 30.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers also describe it as a dependable, trouble-free choice with good value for money, and the model is presented as one of the better Malibu family options from a reliability standpoint. For used buyers, that suggests the Malibu can be a sensible long-term ownership pick if you choose a well-kept example and verify its maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 55.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s structural and mechanical condition. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that the car’s comfort and tech features are working as expected.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly when you find a strong one.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,960 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,198, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $13,198 sits slightly below last year's $14,548.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a lower cost today, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter more, especially because buyers tend to respond well to well-kept examples with a clean history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan and you can find a clean, well-priced example. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower-mileage or better-documented car is available at a similar cost.
