Used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale nearEl Paso, TX

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 8.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,545 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox earns 4.2/5 from owners and 7.7/10 from experts. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, fuel economy, and value for money, and they also note that it offers good features for the price. The Equinox is framed as a practical choice for everyday driving, especially if you want more cargo space and a higher driving position than a midsize sedan can provide. On the other hand, the expert notes point to fairly pedestrian performance and poor value for money, so you should buy it for usefulness rather than excitement. Good and great deals account for 30.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with comfort and value showing up repeatedly in the feedback. The expert notes also emphasize that it is a basic, bread-and-butter commuter rather than a complicated vehicle, which can be reassuring if you want something straightforward to live with. Chevrolet also includes a free first maintenance visit to the dealership.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been neglected or poorly equipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition, equipment level, and signs of prior repair work, since lower-trim examples may be missing features you expect. If you’re comparing multiple listings, pay close attention to how the equipment package changes the day-to-day experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Equinox comes in L, LS, LT, and Premier trim levels. The Premier adds a more powerful engine, all-wheel drive, a power panoramic sunroof, roof rails, extra chrome detailing, and a more upscale cabin presentation, while the lower trims can feel sparse by comparison.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder makes 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque and uses a 6-speed automatic transmission. A 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder is also available, with 252 hp and 260 lb-ft, a 9-speed automatic, and stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a safe following distance monitor, and automatic high-beam headlights. A reversing camera, rear-seat reminder, and Teen Driver technology are also standard, while adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, and a Safety Alert Seat depend on trim level.
• Infotainment: Infotainment systems use 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreens and include Bluetooth for two devices, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and Chevrolet Connected Access. Higher trims add a high-definition display, cloud connectivity, improved voice recognition, HD Radio, satellite radio, navigation, and a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard 1.5-liter engine is rated at 28 mpg in combined driving, while the 2.0-liter turbo is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving. The expert also notes 24.3 mpg in AWD driving with the 1.5-liter and 22.1 mpg with the 2.0-liter turbo.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LS, LT, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest way into the Equinox, but the available information points to a stripped-down experience, so you should only consider it if price matters more than features.
• LS: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it keeps the Equinox’s core strengths intact while avoiding the premium pricing of the upper trims.
• LT: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value, and it is also the trim that can get the Midnight Edition appearance package.
• Premier: This is the most upscale choice, with the stronger engine, AWD, a panoramic sunroof, and the richest feature presentation, but it is the least budget-friendly.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every trim, but some additional driver-assistance features remain trim dependent.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,545 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,167, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $15,167 sits slightly below last year's $16,489.

That decline suggests the Equinox is in a softer pricing phase, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The model’s broad appeal and steady owner satisfaction should still help support demand in the used market.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox is a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS and earns five-star ratings in each NHTSA evaluation, plus a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a safe following distance monitor, and automatic high-beam headlights. A reversing camera, rear-seat reminder, and Teen Driver technology are also standard. Upgrades can add adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, and a Safety Alert Seat, though some of those features depend on trim level.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It combines standard advanced safety features with easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,715, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $15,167 average.
• It adds HD rear-view and surround-view cameras, which improve visibility.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want the stronger market selection and the latest feature set at a still-reasonable used price. If your priority is saving money above all else, the 2019 is the better value play, especially if you find one with the camera upgrades in good condition.
