How much does the 2020 BMW 4 Series cost?

Is the 2020 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Generally — the 2020 BMW 4 Series earns a 4.33/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, agility, and distinctive design, and many also like the hardtop convertible setup and the way it performs on the road. The overview also shows why it appeals if you want a premium coupe or convertible with a more individual look, a high-quality cabin, and a strong feature set. With 37.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a compelling example.

Is the 2020 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience built around strong performance and a car that many drivers enjoy over time. The same feedback also suggests that you should pay close attention to condition and maintenance history, since premium cars can become costly if neglected. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example that erodes the value of the car’s strengths.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 BMW 4 Series?

At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on bodywork, electronics, and any signs of uneven wear. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because a premium coupe or convertible like this can be rewarding only if it has been cared for properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 BMW 4 Series?

If you find a listing below $22,807, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $22,881 sits slightly below last year's $25,014.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on how well the car is maintained and how clean its history is. A well-kept example should be easier to move than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,158, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,881 average.
• It brings a redesigned look and a more technology-focused feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you care more about the newer design and are willing to pay a much higher price, the 2021 is the better alternative. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2020 is the more practical path.
